You Got This! – Vicki Boutin – Color Study – Wendy Meffan

Hey Magpies! It’s Wendy here on the blog and this month I has chosen the gorgeous vibrant Color Study Collection by Vicki Boutin. I just loved all the bright colours in this collection and how happy it made me feel when looking at it all. I chose to base my first layout around all the green and blue tones as they are some of my favourite colours. I used the 12×12 Spheres paper as a background as it worked so well with my photos! I gutted a piece of white 12×12 cardstock to give a white border and trimmed the spheres sheet to 11.5″.

I then found all the elements of the collection which had the blue and green tones. I found the quote card in the ephemera journalling pack and the colour swatch in the ephemera icons pack and distressed the edges of these and placed them either side of the photos. I decided not to mat the photos as they were so bright and the white edges actually stood out against the background paper.  Along side the quote card I used the velum colour wheel and cut away the pink and yellow side and tucked it in beside the quote. I used a word phrase from the ephemera for the title and backed it with a sheet from the 6×8 paper pad and then raised it on sticky fixers to give some added  dimension to the layout.

I used the stamp set and gold embossing powder to create some embellishments which were accented in gold, my daughter had had a gold leopard pattern in face paint to the side of her face and this worked perfectly to coordinate colour wise. I stamped the flowers butterflies and clips in this way.

I also stamped some leaves  and a tab using gold embossing powder. I then made a cluster to the left of the layout above the photos.

I added a small tab along the colour swatch ephemera which I had also stamped and embossed with gold. I added the arrow from the ephemera  and distressed the edges and also outlined it in gold pen.

.

Finally I made  another cluster at the top right hands side of the layout. I used the clip from the ephemera pack and stamped another one again using gold to accent it, I then stamped a leopard print and embossed in gold. I used another velum colour wheel and added the teal budgie ephemera.

LAyout 2  SO EXCITED TO BE 93!

For this layout I chose my photo first as I realised it had so many colours in it and it would be perfect for this collection.  I cut out the colour wheel from the 6×8 paper pad and positioned it in the top left hand side of the paper. I cut each segment out and distressed the edges and then raised alternate segments on sticky fixers.

Next I used distress oxides and made a mixed media background  in pink and yellow. I then used the 12×12 Perspective paper and cut out four tags which had appropriate words on them and positioned them around the photo.

I fussy cut some flowers which I had stamped and used some from the ephemera pack. I also cut the Happiness is Here tag which was along the bottom of the Perspective paper.

I added another floral cluster along the right side of the layout again with a few stamped flowers on paper from the 6×8 paper pad.

I cut the bottom off the Perspective paper and placed it along the bottom of the layout and actually sewed over the top of the faux sewing on the paper. I felt this helped to balance the layout .

Above the photo I made cluster using flowers and butterflies and a clipboard tag from the ephemera. I raised all the elements on sticky fixers for dimension.

Finally again I added the title from the ephemera words, and added a few black paint splatters.

I love how different these layouts are and again how they show off the brightness and beauty of this collection. Why not take a look on the website at this amazing collection.

Till next time…

Happy Scrapping!xxx
