You Are my Forever – Maggie Holmes – Parasol – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! It’s Wendy here and I’m sharing my first layout for November and I’m using Maggie Holmes Parasol Collection. Maggie Holmes is one of my favourite designers and this collection is just so beautiful, I just love all the pastel colours, I have chosen to use the blues, gold and mustard colours for this layout as the tone of the blue perfectly matched my husband’s shirt!

I wanted to show off some of the gorgeous papers so decided to make some  tag pennants which I could string across the page. My photo is about 2×3″ so I made the pennants just big enough to take the size of the photo. As there are accents of gold on the papers I sewed around the edge of each pennant with gold thread , I also punched holes and added eyelets to each tag. I moved their position around and then when I was happy I picked them all back up and used distress oxides to make a mixed media background. I then laced some waxed string through all the tags and stapled the ends to the page edge. To make a feature of the photo I placed it centrally on sticky fixers.

I embellished the tags with the icon ephemera along with some stamps and phrases I fussy cut from the 6×8 paper pad. I also used some puffy stickers and chipboard stickers. from the 6×8 paper pad I fussy cut the lemons, the Love without Limits and punched the blue heart.

As I had placed the tag pennants centrally across the page I felt above and below needed some more detail. I cut two strips from the 6×8 paper pad and distressed their edges and placed them at the top right side of the layout , I then used the large ephemera flower at the top along with the velum Splendid from the ephemera pack and used the large chipboard camera  to create a cluster.

I cut another two corresponding strips and added them to the bottom left  of the layout along with a floral sticker (which I stuck on white card stock and then fussy cut it.) I then added it to the strips at the bottom of the layout. I fussy cut ‘you are my forever’ from the 12×12 Perfect Day paper and raised it on sticky fixers over the strips with a puffy butterfly sticker.

Finally I added some blue and some white gesso splatters over the layout.
