‘Wonder’ & ‘Thankful’ Mixing Truly Grateful and Heritage by Niki Rowland

Hi everyone, this is Niki here with you today with two layouts. I’m mixing two collections today: Paige Evans Truly Gratetful and Maggie Holmes Heritage. The two collections go perfectly together with their similar colour palettes and cute critters.

There is a process video containing both layouts that you can view below.

For my first layout ‘Wonder’ I attempted to make an avenue of trees…the plan was to have large trees in the foreground, with them getting smaller and smaller with tiny trees in the distance. I did all that but I’m not sure that the overall effect works!!! But it was fun trying and I love the trees anyway!

The gingham paper from Truly Grateful is one of my favourites so I choose to use this for my background. I added white paint splatters and mounted it on a yellow Maggie Holmes Heritage paper. I created my ‘road’ with a piece of white card and I added handstitching along the edges. I create some large trees from patterned paper and cardstock and stuck them to the bottom of my layout. I then fussy cut lots of trees from the Truly Gratful tree paper and also houses and trees from one of the Maggie Holmes Heritage papers.

The teeny tiny trees right at the top were fussy cut from the 2″ paper swatch books from the Truly Gratful collection…they are super cute!

I added woodland creatures, more trees and mushrooms as well as some gorgeous (but giant!) golden butterflies from the Heritage collection. They aren’t really giant but look so on my ‘to scale’ tree scene! I finished with a title using the Truly Grateful puffy phrase Thickers and also added some sequins from the Truly Gratful mixed embellishments pack.

For my second layout ‘Thankful’, I used that starburst paper. I loved it so much from the Horizon collection. I had three sheets from Horizon as well as two sheets from the 6×8 pad, and it also came in a retreat kit too, so I had used it sooooooooo many times that when I came to use THIS sheet from Truly Grateful I was a little stumped as to what to do that I hadn’t already done!

I decided to cut along each divide and distress the edges. I then stuck it onto white cardstock and folded over each colour and secured with tone-on-tone coloured brads (I have plenty of those still in my stash!!).

I added my photo to the middle with some Heritage papers, including the speciality glitter acetate and then embellished the remainder of the layotu in a colour-on-colour fashion.

It’s a bit of a rainbow feast!! I used the acrylic Perspextive ‘Thankful’ for my title…I was thankful that they were going back to school!!! Ha ha, I promise I do love them really!

I hope you have enjoyed these two layouts today. I will be back later in the month with more layouts mixing these two collections. As mentioned above there is a process video for these two layouts (both layouts are on the one video) which you can view below.

Happy scrapping xx
