With a Sunny Disposition…

Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today.
This months blog post is entitled ‘With a Sunny Disposition…’, as all of my layouts have a sunny, summery colour scheme running through them. For all three pieces, I chose to use a few lovely collections from Amytan – Rise & Shine, the new Studio Calico Seven Paper – Baxter and Seven Paper – Amelia. I loved the bright colours in these collections, and thought they all went really well together.
My first layout, ‘Everday Selfie’, is a photo of one of my pooches, Riley, having a selfie taken with my eldest daughter, Isobel. For the background I used the Samantha Paper from the Rise & Shine collection. I added a few ink splodges, and sewed on some triangles to add a bit of texture. I then stuck a die cut frame to each of the photos, and built up some paper layers behind each one using papers from the 6×6 Paper Pad and bits out of the Die-Cut Ephemera Pack. I attached them to the page, using some pop dots to give dimension, and added another die-cut frame which I backed with Baxter – 019 Paper as it had ‘dog’ written all over it. I glued a few paper strips to the top and bottom of the page using Ella Paper and a branding strip. I finished thepage with a die-cut title and a few cute dogs cut from the Baxter – 019 Paper, and some adorable Baxter – Wood Veneer Shapes – Dogs.
His face in these photos is absolutely priceless!

For my second layout, ‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out’, I wanted to really showcase the colours in these collections. The photos are of my crazy daughter, taking lots of selfies, as she constantly seems to do! I started with a piece of white card stock, which I inked with pink, yellow and orange mists. I then added some Embossing Paste through a triangle stencil, and when that was dry I used the stencil again to draw some black triangles over the page. I ripped some pieces of the Rachel Paper, and added them to each side, using a few bits of the B side of the Rachel Paper and Stella Paper. I also added another branding strip to the left hand side, and some lace and crepe paper. I put five of the photos down the left hand side, and one on the right, layering two up on frames from the Die Cut Ephemera Pack. I cut a few of the circles from the Samantha Paper, added those and a few Vellum Die Cut Hearts from the Studio Calico Seven Paper – Baxter range. I finished it off with a few cute Gold Shaped Paperclips, some Seven Paper – Amelia Washi Stickers, some Gold Foil Rub-Ons from Becky Higgins and a few Epoxy Stickers from Amy Tan.

My final layout , ‘Enjoy the Journey’, is about our trip to New York, but just the plane journey. I used a die cut of America, with ‘Destination’ cut out of it, and marked the spot where New York is with a cross and a gold rub-on arrow. The bottom half of the layout is Baxter – 022 Paper, and I just love the sherbet colours of it, so pretty! I teamed that with Lana Paper from Amytan as I loved all the words. I stuck them together and used a branding strip and some bits of Amelia – 009 Paper and then did a bit of stitching. I also added some Amelia – 008 Paper and the 009 Paper again to the top with some stitching. I chose two Rise & Shine Frames to go over my photos, and backed them with some papers from the Amelia 6×6 Paper Pad and some Baxter Foil Printer Vellum. I added the photo cluster to the left hand side of the page, adding some epoxy stickers, Amelia Washi Stickers and a couple of Flair Badges. The title is a Heidi Swapp Wood Veneer, which I inked in three different colours.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my post today, and that the colours make you feel a bit more summery. It looks like we’ll all be needing a Sunny Disposition to enjoy the British weather!
Until next time,
JULIE
