Winter Wonderland | Simple Stories – Vintage Winter Woods | Jackie Ashton
Hi Magpies, Jackie here with my 1st blogpost for 2023 and I would like to start by wishing you all a Happy New Year and here’s to you all creating loads of crafting projects during the coming years.
For my layout today I’m using the lovely new collection from Simple Stories – Simple Vintage Winter Woods here. It a lovely winter collection which is more winter theme rather than the traditional Christmas themes collections.
I wanted to used only patterned paper and not any cardstock, so I chose ‘All That Glistens’ and plain patterned paper from the Basics Kit. Each of the ‘basic’ papers are printed with a distress look to give a vintage appearance, which are lovely.
Using the ‘All That Glistens” patterned paper, I tore across the paper at about 7 inches at the longer edge (left side), then using the b-side of the same patterned paper, I added a 3 inch strip to the lower edge.
I then cut these papers down to 11.5 inches so that they will give a small border around the patterned papers. Adding machine stitches around 3 edges. Then I added some pom-pom trim to the lower torn edge of the paper matt, before adding it to the background paper.
Using two 3×4 photographs, which I printed in black & white, I added patterned papers from the 6×8 paper pad behind each, adding these to the centre of page. I cut the pom-pom trim behind the photographs, to allow the photographs to be more flat against the patterned paper.
I added embellishments from the bits & pieces pack, foam sticker pack to the top of the photographs.
Adding two clusters using stickers from the Sticker book, foam sticker sheet, and brads. To the top cluster I also added an exclusive flair badge that work perfectly with this collection – here
For my title I used words from Chipboard sheet.
I’m loving the neutral and fresh vintage tones of this collection, it a complete change to what normally Christmas / Winter themed collections are.
I will be back later in the month sharing another layout using this lovely collection.
Don’t forget to check out our Facebook group and share all your layouts, we would love to see them.
