Wildflower & Honey | Sheena Rowlands
Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again x
For my post this month I chose to use Vicki Boutin Wildflower & Honey paper range for American Crafts. Its full of bold vibrant colours plus lots of ephemera packs too.
I also picked up the stencil pack to try out as I’ve been keen to do more mixed media on my layouts of late.
Enjoy Today.
My brother is a great wildlife photographer & I was thrilled to scrap this photo he took in our parents garden, it was just perfect for this range.

For my base I chose a page for the Vicki Boutin Color Kaleidoscope mixed media background pad as the colours were perfect for my photo. I used the flower stencil to add some flowers going diagonally up the page. I did toy with colouring the texture paste but I didn’t want the flowers to stand out too much. I masked off parts of the stencil with washing tape to give a softer look.

Once dry I tore the edges of the mixed media background paper which was really hard to do as its so lovely & thick & then matted it on to the Field of Dreams patterned paper.
I added 2 clusters on the diagonal with the lower one incorporating my photo plus leaves fussy cut from the Greenery patterned paper. The tiny bees were cut from a branding strip to finish off this page.

For my second layout I chose to use the Honeycomb stencil.
Hey Honey!

For this page I wanted to showcase this lovely stencil so I added watered down Distress oxides to my foundation paper and when this was dry I added the Distress ink again through the stencil with a sponge for a tone on tone look.
I have to be honest when I say I never thought I would ever scrapbook this photo but this collection was just made for documenting this story.

I layered my photo with ephemera and chipboard across my background using foam pads trying not to cover too much of it.

I hope these provide some inspiration for using the Vicki Boutin Wildflower & Honey stencils.
Till next time x
