WEEKEND VIBES – VICKI BOUTIN – OLD SCHOOL – WENDY MEFFAN
Hey Magpies! It’s Wendy here and I’m sharing two LO using Heidi Swapp’s Old School Collection. This beautiful collection has a wide ranging colour scheme and some very dramatic prints too. I chose to use the pink and mustard elements from the collection as my photo was a girly one. This forms a great combination together.
I decided to use a sheet from the 6×8 paper pad as I liked the quote across the top, I distressed the edges and then matted the photo .
Initially I used the 12×12 Urban Stories cut apart sheet and literally chopped it up into all its individual parts. I then chose the happy note, just have fun and life is better when you’re laughing pieces and distressed the edges and arranged them by the photo.
I then used some of the tags from the Tag set and again distressed the edges and raised them on foam pads and attached them to the LO.
I fussy cut some flowers from a page in the 6×8 paper pad and made small clusters with them. I made two tears in the paper top and bottom and curled the edges and then back filled the space with paper. I machine stitched around the whole LO and added a bit of zigzag stitching too.
Finally I added some pom pos at the top in coordinating colours, these are probably one of my most favourite scrapbooking items and I love the added dimension and texture they bring .
It was a simple LO to construct and is very pretty due to the lovely combination.
Layout 2 DISNEY SPRINGS
I used a mustard and turquoise combination this time as the papers leant themselves well to my photos.
I used one of the pages in the 6×8 paper pad and cut off the pink elements on it to give me just turquoise and mustard, I liked the angle of the stripes on the paper and decided to try and incorporate onto my LO. I did a bit of cutting and fixing to make the pattern work on the 12×12 white paper. I then decided to machine stitch around all stripes to give more definition on the page.
I used a couple of the tags from the tag set to layer behind the photos, along with some stickers from the sticker book.
I backed some of the stickers from the sticker book with white card stock to make them a bit thicker and more like ephemera and added them to the photos on raised pads.
I then used the swirl paper from the 6×8 paper pad which was so perfect as it looked like waves . Having looked at it in the black and white I decided to use a metallic turquoise pen and added some colour in to the waves which really finished off the LO. I then added some black ink splatters.
I hope you like these LO and they have given you some inspiration for this collection. I look forward to seeing your creations, so don’t forget to post on the Facebook page.
Happy Scrapping! ….. till next time
