Warm Wishes – Vicki Boutin – Part 2 | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Craft Magpies, Amy here sharing two more festive layouts that I have created using Vicki Boutin’s Warm Wishes collection. I’ve used it to scrap festive memories from both my childhood and my childrens. That’s one of the great thing about Christmas collections!
Decorations
For this layout I knew I wanted to use four of the baubles from the ephemera pack. They go great with this old photo of myself and my brother looking at decorations several decades ago!
I thought that the baubles needed to hang with some gold thread from the top part of the 12×12 layout. I layered several of my favourite patterned papers from the 12×12 pad at the top of the layout. I went all out on making the edges super distressed and dimensional by tearing and ruffling them up. I love how this effect looks.
Once the top half of my layout was sorted I moved on to the area where I wanted my photo to sit. To ground my photo I added a banner stripe of the holly patterned paper. Super festive! I also cut a large circle out of the pink and red polka dot paper to sit behind my photo. I feel this echoes the theme of baubles. I layered up some of the journalling ephemera pieces behind my square photo. Then I added some small stickers. The puffy bauble stickers were also perfect for this photo so I included them too.
I added a smaller circle of patterned paper to balance the photo and then added a subtitle of a puffy sticker that says “Deck the halls”. I added some of the chipboard stars. My title was added from an old set of gold Thickers and I stamped my journalling. It was important that I tell the story behind this old photo.
Christmas Eve 2018
The starting point for this layout was the patterned paper called “Beautiful Sight“. The paper is such a great way to create a layout as it already has so much detail for you.
Firstly I added a little Tattered Rose distress oxide through the pine needle stencil that is available in this collection. I then selected some ephemera pieces for my layout. I decided I wanted to use the window and door pieces as they are so much fun. I folded them so that the windows and door are slightly open. I used a piece of the blue snowflake paper from the 6×8 paper pad to back these. I even added a little chipboard bird to the window ledge. Adding these little details is super fun!
I placed the door piece down in the lower right corner where there is already a white label as part of the patterned paper. I thought this was the perfect place for my photo. I also added the beautiful Christmas Tree die cut to the cluster. I then added a few stickers from the sticker book.
My title was created using the ‘Christmas’ die cut and stamped letters using Elles Studio Jane Outline stamps and one of the patterned papers from the 6×8 pad. The year was added from one of the Simple Stories Alphabet books.
I hope these two layouts have started to make you feel a little festive. We would love to see all your creations over on our facebook group! Until next month, Take Care and Stay Safe,
