Vicki Boutin | Fernwood | Part 2 | Giselle Homer
Hello again Magpies,
Hope that you’re all well & getting lots of scrapping done.
I’m sharing my last ‘official’ layout using Fernwood but I know I’ll be making more pages with it as there’s so much to choose from in this collection. My daughter & son-in-law took their son on a nostalgic trip to visit places that were important to them & he took this photo. I knew I wanted to scrapbook it as soon as I saw it & Fernwood fitted the bill perfectly!
PERFECT MOMENT
I began by stencilling a sunburst design in the middle of the page, slightly to the right. I used a pale yellow ink so that it blended into the background & wasn’t too bright.
After trimming the white cardstock, I distressed the edges & added a hand drawn line to frame it. I glued it to a sheet of Fernwood patterned paper.
Using a pencil & a plate (very technical!) as a size guide I drew a circle & then retraced it with a dark green fine liner pen. I also used this circle as a guide for my journalling, sketching it out in pencil first to ensure that it fitted! Hey Little Magpie are now stocking 3D print embellishments & I thought that this one was a good title for the photo.
After backing & distressing the edges of the photo, I glued it into place at the lower right of the circle. Then I had some fun choosing which ephemera would work with my layout; I used some die cuts & stickers from the collection & added some dots using Nuvo Drops. I love using these as they never seem to run out & there’s lots of colours & finishes to choose from.
A few more floral embellishments added to the left balanced the design of the page & gave me the opportunity to do a little fussy cutting – which I love!
If you haven’t discovered Fernwood yet, I hope you check it out in the shop, it’s still in stock.
Until next month, happy scrapping!
