Vicki Boutin | Fernwood | Giselle Homer
Hello Magpies,
A new month & a new collection to work with! This time it’s Vicki Boutin’s Fernwood & what a varied, colourful collection it is. There’s so much to choose from – as well as all the patterned papers, there’s chipboard & paper ephemera, puffy words, phrases & embellishments. You’ll be spoilt for choice.
RUSH HOUR
I began this layout by taking a sheet of Gather paper to use as my base. The design was crying out to be used as a background page with the circle of fern leaves making an excellent starting point. This photo has been on my desk for ages waiting to be scrapbooked; it’s the view from my daughter’s kitchen window at 5pm each day! I thought it would work well with the countryside elements to be found in the ephemera pack.
But I wanted to add more colour to the circle so I fussy cut some leaves, flowers & acorns to add to it. I distressed the edges to fit nicely with the style of the background paper & some of these were raised up with sticky foam pads.
I backed my photo with a vanilla coloured cardstock & some yellow Happy Thoughts patterned paper, distressing the edges first.
I added more ephemera & some chipboard dots from the Thickers pack. The title is from an alphabet that I had in my stash, although there is an alphabet from this collection, it was a little too big for my page.
I wanted to make the lower left of the circle a bit more detailed to balance the position of the photo. So I added a mixture of die cuts from the ephemera pack & even more fussy cutting. Those red mushrooms are so cute!
I’ll be back later in the month with another layout, until then, maybe you’ll have a little peek at this collection & be inspired!
Happy Scrapping till next time.
