Vicki Boutin | Color Study Part 2 | Giselle Homer
Hello again Magpies,
I’m here to share two more layouts using Vicki Boutin’s latest collection ‘Color Study’. This is such a fun collection and so varied that it can be used for any number of themes or occasions.
I started this layout by trimming all the triangles from the ‘Color Wheel’ paper, then I cut some white borders to fit each one.
I chose a black background to show off the bright colours. Then I added my photo to the centre just above the midpoint of the colour wheel, with some chipboard elements.
The title is taken from the chipboard words in the collection, which I placed below the photo with some circles and other stickers.
I wrote my journalling following the arc of the circle pieces and added a few more stickers. Once I’d finished the layout I thought it need something else! So I added Nuvo drops, in a variety of colours, all round the outside of the circle.
This second layout began by using some mixed media on a white background, using paint, stencilling and ink splashes.
I used a cutfile for the title which I backfilled with the black striped paper. I placed this on the base first as I planned to add the photo above it. I just loved the heart swirl sticker so I put that below the title.
There are some fun chipboard trims in the collection, so I added one to one side of my photo. The gold accents are from my own stash.
I fussy cut some neutral coloured flowers to embellish the photo along the top right edge.
It was easy to finish the layout, which already had lots of elements, by just adding a little journalling below the title.
Color Study, with it’s bold patterns and colours, is the brightest collection I have used in a long time, it’s definitely encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone!
So, until next month, happy scrapping everyone!
