Unforgettable Part 1 – Philippa McCray

Hi there Magpies!

This month I’m creating with the beautiful Unforgettable collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I love the soft colour palette, watercolour splashes, florals, sentiments….in fact everything about it!

The November HLM challenge to use at least twenty repeating shapes on your layout has been set by fellow DT Member Niki Rowland, further details can be found here. I decided to play along and use circles on my first layout!

I wanted to document a very special moment between a Dad and his daughter as he shows her the books I gifted to help him teach her English.

I started by adding a light watercolour wash to my white cardstock background in colours to compliment the collection and then pulled out various pieces of circular ephemera from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I love the sentiments ‘A Moment in Time’ and ‘photographs are the BEAUTY of life captured’, they are so appropriate for this special moment.

I used a circular punch to punch circles from a variety of papers and mounted one of my photos behind a frame from the Ephemera collection.  The pink bow is from the Tassels and Bows pack.

To give dimension to my layout I raised some of the circles on sticky pads, layered others and added enamel dots and some bits from my stash.

The Clear Stickers are so effective and look particularly good against the painted background! I doodled a border and used aqua pencils to add spots of colour to match the layout.

I love how it turned out!

For my second layout I’ve used both white and black cardstock, I rarely use black! To separate them I used torn strips from the Unscripted paper (front and back).

I’ve layered my photo using pieces cut from the Pretty Bits paper and popped it inside a wood effect frame from the ephemera collection. I created a floral cluster and because I tend to add things in threes, I added three butterflies. My journalling is on one of the tags from the Story Teller paper.

It took a while for this layout to come together, sometimes the simple ones are the hardest I find!!

The alphas are from my stash.

If you’ve not already been tempted, you can view the complete collection here

I’ll be back later this month with more creations using this gorgeous collection. Until then, Happy Scrapping!
