Try something new – Cocoa Vanilla Studio
Hi there, Sheena here x
Do you ever have a time when you feel your mojo has left you?
Well thats how I was feeling earlier this month. Usually when this happens to get me going again I flick through my albums, find a layout I like & scrap lift myself. This seems to work for me & I recommend it. But this moth I thought maybe it was time to shake things up a bit. I had been admiring the A4 style pages Julie, Jackie,Jo & Rachel had made so thought this would be a great place to start. To add to this I decided to try a manufacturer that I’d not used before – Cocoa Vanilla Studio.
By picking a new size, 9x12in and a new range – Life is Beautiful from Cocoa Vanilla Studio I started to scrap.
I used the cut apart sheet as the basis for this grid style page, layering on top die cuts, flowers, charms and enamelled dots.
I had been a while since I’d used paper and resin flowers on my pages and they add lots of lovely dimension.
When I saw this photo it was perfect for this range & really made me smile as it features Jackie, Julie & me with a friend Mary at a Sarah’s Cards retreat back in 2011.
For this page I focused on the flowers and butterflies in the die cut pack & on the sticker sheet. I gave the background patterned paper the packaging technique treatment before adding my layers.
Some of the elements were raised on foam & the butterflies were all hand stitched down for further texture.
Using kraft cardstock as my base I added varying width strips of all the blue based papers including 2 from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Free Spirit range and then machine sewed them into place.
I used a cut file to help create my title which I then filled with lots of sequins, time consuming but nice & relaxing to achieve.
By mixing it up this month I certainly created different layouts. The hardest part… initially trimming the cardstock & patterned paper down. Silly I know but once I made those cuts it seemed to free me to start making.
How about trying something new? whether it be size or manufacturer, I think it does us all good to get out of our comfort zone now & again, you might really like it!
