Truly Grateful – Part 2 | Philippa McCray

Hi there Magpies!

I have had lots of fun playing with the Truly Grateful collection from Paige Evans, it’s so versatile! I have two more 12 x 12 layouts to share with you here.

For my first layout I chose to create a gallery of pictures as I wanted to use the frames on the Paper 22. I cut the insides from a selection of the frames and used them to mount my chosen photos. I played around with background papers and finally decided to use Paper 6. I cut along one of the zig zag lines of the design so I could reverse the paper for the bottom part of my layout, I added some distress oxide inks to get the drip effect and once dry doodled using a white gel pen.

I felt the page needed anchoring so I added a strip of paper echoing the design at the top of the page along the bottom edge.

Once I was happy with the arrangement of frames, I adhered them using sticky pads. Now for the fun bit, the embellishing!

I love the cute little clock in the Die Cut Ephemera pack and placed it at the top of the page. The little blue bird is from the Puffy Shape stickers. I also used butterflies, flowers and leaves, some cut from the scraps of papers left over from other projects, which I tucked amongst the frames.

I chose ‘live laugh love’ as my title, laugh and love are from the 6 x 12 Cardstick stickers.

I added a few die cut branches, some tiny sequin gold stars and finally added a machine stitched border.

For my second layout I was inspired by the plaid on Paper 02 so using water colour paints I painted a very rough square check design on white cardstock. Lime green is one of my favourite colours so I chose the reverse of Paper 03 which I gutted to use as my border.

The very first thing I did was create the little cluster at the bottom left of the page. I used three trees cut from Paper 07 to which I added some white gel pen as a highlight then I added puffy stickers and a die cut branch.

I’m always drawn to a 12×12 paper made of 2×2 squares and I knew I wanted to use Paper 14. I decided to make three little books to hold my journalling using plain paper for the inside of each book cut slightly smaller than 2 x 2 which I machine stitched in place. Using the trusted grid layout I set out my little books along side 2 x 2 photos mounted on squares cut from the same paper.

I used puffy stickers, cardstock stickers and bits form my stash to embellish.

I was pleased with how it turned out and like the little books which I used to conceal journalling about the photos.

I hope that you’ve found my layouts inspiring and that you’ll be tempted to indulge in bits and pieces from the collection if you haven’t already been tempted!

I’ll be back next month with more ideas using a new collection, until then, Happy Scrapping.
