Train Ride from Malaga to Madrid – Scrapbook Layout – Echo Park – Born to Travel Collection- Wendy Meffan

Our train ride from Madrid to Málaga was such a highlight of our trip, and I wanted this scrapbook page to really capture that mix of excitement, relaxation, and adventure. For the base, I used the Echo Park Born to Travel collection because its vibrant colors and playful patterns echoed the energy of our journey. To bring extra warmth and texture, I added HLM wooden travel embellishments, which paired beautifully with the stickers and chipboard accents from the collection.

At the heart of the layout, I created a large tag as the focal point. I layered several small photos on and around it, showing little snapshots from the train: the wide windows with views of the Spanish countryside, us relaxing in our seats, and the anticipation on our faces as we headed south. The tag provided a perfect anchor for these memories, letting me cluster images together without the page feeling overcrowded. To balance the composition, I hand-cut a large fussy-cut suitcase border and stretched it across the bottom of the layout. This added a fun grounding element and tied the whole page together while symbolizing the essence of travel. The layered suitcases give the design movement and depth, like luggage piled up for the next adventure.

Small details brought the page to life—, little sticker sentiments about wanderlust and travel, and  HLM wooden embellishments tucked in for a natural, tactile feel. I love how the combination of textures—paper, wood, and chipboard—reflects the layers of our travel story.

Overall, this page captures not just the destination but the joy of the journey itself. Every glance back at it reminds me how meaningful even the “in-between” moments of travel can be.
