The Simple StoriesSimple Vintage Sand & Sea collection was the perfect choice for documenting this peaceful beach memory. I was drawn to the beautiful beige and blue colour palette, which perfectly reflects the soft sand, gentle waves, and relaxing coastal feel captured in my photo. Keeping to these calming tones helped create a cohesive layout that lets the photograph take centre stage.

For my design, I started with a single photo, matting it with coordinating patterned papers from the collection to help it stand out. I positioned the photo across the centre of the page over a  wide strip of torn patterned paper, adding texture and a relaxed, organic feel that echoes the shoreline. The torn edges bring movement to the design while reinforcing the natural beach theme.

To add layers and interest, I tucked tags above and below the torn paper. Using tags in coordinating beach-inspired colours allowed me to build dimension without taking attention away from the photo. The soft blues and sandy neutrals complement the beach scene beautifully, creating a seamless blend between the embellishments and the photograph.

I embellished the layout with a wooden title from the August Embellishment Kit by HLM, which provides the perfect focal point alongside the photo. To complete the design, I added clusters of ephemera, chipboard elements, and stickers from the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Sand & Sea collection around the photo. These layered embellishments add texture, depth, and visual balance while enhancing the coastal theme. A few carefully placed phrases and icons bring the page together without overwhelming the clean, relaxed design.

I love how this layout embraces the softer side of the collection. Rather than using every colour available, focusing on the beige and blue shades creates a calm and timeless look that perfectly matches the sandy beach photo. Simple layering, torn paper, and thoughtfully placed embellishments come together to tell the story of a relaxing day by the sea, preserving a treasured memory in a fresh and elegant way.
