Text from vintage books…
Text from vintage books – I love to read all about what each page says and often giggle about the manner in which they are written!
When I saw that Cedar Lane, the new collection from Pink Paislee featured vintage styled text too, I decided to incorporate both and delved into my antique book collection. And with many of the elements in the Cedar Lane collection having a woodland influence, combining pages or sections of text onto my layouts continued the wood / paper theme.
‘Pretty’ uses a silhouette cut file with feature hearts, which I backed with text from some of my vintage books.
A simple free-hand machine stitch enhanced the hearts and the photo was mounted on a selection of papers from the 6 x 6″ paper pad.
Other elements used included the die-cut ephemera, there gorgeous glittered arrows and the puffy stickers. Colours were very much kept to neutrals, like the background Arrow Avenue paper with browns and a splash of ochre to jazz it up.
‘Love You’ uses two vintage text pages as the basis for the photo matting, along with some of the divine wood slices from Amy Tan.
Trailing leaves and flourishes were cut on my silhouette and clustered to enhance the wood slices and the aptly named Walnut Street paper! The text pages were stuck in such as way so as to appear like they do in a book with a natural curvature.
More glittered arrows and die-cut ephemera with peachy tones lavished this layout – those glittered arrows are simply lush!
‘One Little Word’ again uses a silhouette cut file. I used the Seafoam Heidi Swapp mist to paint around the edges of the die cut, backed each word with book text and then stuck the die cut words back down, so that just a smidgen of vintage text showed through…
The die cut ephemera and wash tape stickers were used quite a bit on this layout, some raised on foam pads to add depth.
Lastly, the embroidered tags are to die for… they are so cute. I was especially drawn to the teal one, although the other three in the pack are equally as sweet!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading all about the stunning collection that is Cedar Lane – until next month…
