Tell a story
Lately I’ve been thinking about my layouts and why I’m doing them. I love photos and I love scrapbooking products. But I also want my layouts to be about stories! So how do I tell my stories?
All the layouts in this blog post are a mix between Maggie Holmes – Chasing Dreams, Shimelle – Little By Little, 1canoe2 – Hazelwood and Crate Paper – Oasis! They work perfectly together and are very easy to scrap with!
Most of my layouts looks like this one, some pretty photos, a bought title and no text. Why?
I’m lazy! Sad but true… it takes time to come up with a good title and it takes time to write journalling. I really like to work quickly… just toss some papers and embellishments together and call it done! 😀 But sometimes stories gets lost… and that makes me so sad. So from now on I will write more… try to write more anyway… 😀
… but back to this layout… I think these photos tells a story on their own. And I didn’t really have anything to say about them… Just some funny photos! I added cameras as embellishments and tried to find as many as I could from the 4 collections I have right now.
This is not normal for me! A title made out of thickers!!!
These photos tells a very important story about a very special superhero. The name of the hero is the most important part of the story (besides how she looks) so it needed to be on the layout.
Here I also added some journalling in the form of strips. A very easy way to add text to your layout. I think it looks more like embellishments than journalling. And I love to use my computer and a typewriter font for my journalling. I would love to have a good typewriter… but until I have one, my computer will do.
One thing I don’t really like about this layout is that the photos were arranged. The superhero often comes out after bath… in the evening. I hate to take important photos in poor light. So I asked my daughter if she could be a hero for the camera when the sun was shining. You are allowed to do that sometimes I think… 😀
Another layout with a story to tell. Here I used some of the frames for my journalling. I had a lot to say and used my own handwriting this time. It looks better to write on the computer and print the text… but I want to save my own handwriting too. I hate it… but some day I might be happy I added some of it to my layouts and PL-pages.
The story didn’t have a good title (I couldn’t think of any)… so I used one I found in my stash. I think those titles looks way better than thickers… but it can be hard to find good ones. Many of my layouts are titled “Hello” and “Pretty” and things like that. It looks a bit weird, especially when your native language isn’t English.
One of my favorite colors right now is yellow. Yellow together with baby blue and pink is just sooo spring to me. The flowers on this layout are from Shimelle – Little by Little. I love that they are transparent. She should have made a whole sheet of just flowers and leaves.
How do you tell your stories?
Do you always make your own titles? Or never?
