Sweet Story by Maggie Holmes | Jo Boland Part 1

Hey, Jo here with my first projects for May and I’m using Maggie Holmes ‘Sweet Story’ from Crate Paper. I love this collection! The colours are vibrant and as always with the Maggie Holmes lines there a vintage feel and look to the collection.

Scrapbook layout ‘Rainbow Love’

For my first layout I was inspired my Challenge 1 from our NSD challenges – No White Card set by DT member Niki. For this I chose to use the rainbow Parfait Paper for my background, matting it on the B-side of Storytime paper. Don’t worry, I didn’t use the whole sheet, I gutted the centre to leave a 1″ outer border. I cut the rainbow paper along between the different colours. Distressed the edges, then stuck it back together again, but with a slight overlap. Admittedly, I used scrap card to adhere the rainbow pieces on and trimmed the edges to make them straight again.

With the base done, I added my photos and some clusters of die-cut ephemera, most of which I popped up on foam pads. The ‘Let’s Go!’ loud hailer was fussy cut from the Glee Paper. The bow and star are from the chipboard sticker sheet.

The black foam letter thickers are from my stash, but these Simple Stories Color Vibes thickers in black would make a great alternative. Did you know that they come in a range of twelve colours? You can find them here.

Additional layout ‘Moments Captured’

I have another layout to share using the Maggie Holmes Sweet Story collection. This layout was made for another sketch challenge this past weekend, but I thought I’d share it here as well. I took inspiration from the colours in my crocheted blanket and pulled out this lovely colourful paper called Sprinkles. The die-cut ephemera is from the collection, the green frame with black hearts is from the cut apart paper Confection. I’ve also used puffy stickers, a label sticker from the cardstock sticker pack, a chipboard banner sticker and beautiful layered butterflies.
