Sunshine & Blue Skies | Morag Cutts
Hi there Magpies! It’s sunshine and blue skies at long last so this summery collection from Simple Stories is perfect for the moment.

I am having a little inky rainbow moment currently using Distress Oxides. They are so versatile and add a gorgeous splash of colour – perfect for a layout about a unicorn pool float called Jeffrey Simon.

3 of my favourite colours are Mustard Seed, Abandoned Coral and Peacock Feathers. For this layout I painted in the colour by watering down the ink.

I smooshed the ink onto my craft sheet and used a wet paint brush to lay down some colour, tilting the page to let it run a little. I also coloured my die cuts using the same ink.

There are really cute stickers on the sticker sheet including this perfect title. I mounted the letters onto foam tape and spaced them out for more impact – I love this little area on the layout.
Soak Up the Sun
In the next layout, I created a quadrant to make smaller canvasses.

In the bottom left hand corner, I used the same technique to paint on the background which I then stencilled in the same colour. By using different pressure some circles were lighter than others to give a real bokeh effect.

I stencilled the sun in Mustard Seed Distress Oxide. By building up the colour from the centre to the outside you’ll get a gradient effect. I love the contrast between the sunshine and the gorgeous stickers. The Palm trees are a little poetic license because we were in Dawlish Warren, Devon where it wasn’t really palm tree weather.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope that I have inspired you to scrap your summer photos too.
