Sunkissed – Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Part 2 | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here sharing another two layout using the bright and summery collection called ‘Sunkissed‘ by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.
Chill Out
I started this layout by carefully cutting a sheet of the Just Chill patterned paper diagonally in half. With the cloud pattern face up, and the clouds the right way around too, cut from top-left corner down to the bottom-right corner. I found because the line you are cutting is actually longer than 12 inches, I had to use a long metal rule and a craft knife. It was too long for my paper cutter. You could also draw a faint pencil line and use scissors, or use two pieces of the patterned paper! Now flip the bottom-left half over so that it forms the 12″ square. Stick these two pieces onto a piece of 12×12 card.
Next I cut a large heart out of smooth white cardstock. To do this I used a piece of folded A4 scrap paper and drew and then cut out a template. By folding it vertically in half and drawing just one half the heart before cutting you get a symmetrical shape. You can then check you are happy with the shape and size before using it as a template to cut the white card.
The I used lime green embroidery thread to hand stitch a border to the white heart. I felt this gave the heart more definition.
The photo I am using is actually 4 photos in a small grid composition and matted it with the blue paper from the 6×8 paper pack. I used foam dots to stick the pink ‘Good Vibes Only’ banner piece to the centre. This was from the die cut ephemera pack.
I added the title ‘chill out’ from the gold glitter foam title stickers set. The title was a great choice for my photos, as my family are sat resting after climbing the local hill during the summer of 2020.
I them added 3 clusters of flowers and leaves from the floral die cut ephemera pack. Next I added some gold glitter hearts from the title pack to these clusters too.
These Sweet Summer Days Together
For this layout I am going back to the 1980s and scrapping an old family photo. I was inspired by the combination of the yellow paper and the blue paper. The yellow paper is the B-side of ‘Fun in the Sun’ and the aqua blue paper is the B-side of the ‘Sunny Days‘ paper. Yellow and Blue together reminds me of the beach – the sand and the sea. I added a border of the polka dot paper between the two layouts. This paper design was exclusive to the 6×8 paper pack, so i had to slice it up into inch slices to make it work.
I matted my photo with 4 different papers from the collection. The edges were all distressed to add lots of texture. I added some word stickers and puffy stickers to the right of my photo.
I added the palm tree, cloud, rainbow and sun die cuts from the ephemera pack. Then I also added 5 of the wooden epoxy buttons.
The long title was a combination of several different word titles from the gold glitter foam title pack. I also added hearts between the letters in the word ‘DAYS’ for more interest.
Thank you for coming to take a closer look at my layouts. I hope I have inspired you to get scrapping some colourful layouts. We would love to see your creations over on the Hey Little Magpie Facebook group!
