Summer – Pink Fresh Studio – Sunshine On My Mind – Wendy Meffan
Hey Magpies! It’s Wendy here sharing my first layout for September and this month I’m using Pink Fresh Studio Sunshine On My Mind Collection. A gorgeous collection full of all the summer colours but in a pastel combination. I love sunny days and Summer is definitely my favourite time of year so this collection works perfectly for me.
When looking through my photos I found this photo of me and my daughter and felt the colours were perfect. Looking through the Journalling Bits I found the Shine Bright journalling card which set my theme of the colours. I then cut apart the 12×12 Best Summer paper an d chose the two cardsI Love You Always and Stay Close to People who feel like Sunshine. I played around with their position and before sticking them down distressed all the edges.
I fussy cut the pink palm leaves from the 6×6 paper pad and then picked out from the floral ephemera the palm leaves and flowers which were predominantly pink, orange and green. I started arranging these pieces in clusters above and below the photo. For the bottom half of the layout I used the large Puffy Alpha Stickers to make the SUMMER title.
I also cut up the HLM Printables which go with this Collection and used some within the leaves and flowers. Then I added some puffy stickers and stickers from the sticker sheet.
Towards the top of the layout I used a similar process tucking in ephemera, puffy stickers and stickers and a canvas flair badge by HLM. I like to distress the edges of everything I use and raise most pieces on sticky fixers to give dimension and texture to the layout. This is sometimes lost in the photography!
Having taken an overall look at my layout I felt it was a bit plain! I decided to add a bit of mixed media around the edges of the clusters. I also wanted a few more palm leaves so used a leaf stamp with distress oxides and fussy cut them. I tucked these extra leaves in where I felt there were gaps. I added some smaller embellishments to the journalling cards.
To finish off I used some mini word stamps from my stash to add a contrast in colour .
Do take a look at this beautiful collection before heading into the Autumn tones and get those Summer photos scrapped!
Till next time… Happy Scrapping!
