Summer Memories | Morag Cutts
It’s the start of the summer holidays for us so I’m looking forward to our annual holiday. Before things get completely mad, it was a good time to scrap some old summer memories.
First up, I used the Sunshine & Blue Skies collection kit from Simple Stories – they are great value for money and will give you lots of choices when scrapping. I scrapped a photo from 2010 – it’s nice to add later collection to an old album and my scrapping style has certainly changed since then.
You may have noticed that I have been scrapping a lot of sun bursts at the moment. Using a stencil and Distress Oxide ink, I worked the ink from the centre to the out edges so that the colour fades.
A shaker window adds a fun centre to the sun. These are easy to create – just cut out a circle (I used a compass circle cutter). I then taped clear packaging then foam tape before adding sequins. Finally carefully secure your backing paper – it’s a bit fiddly but does add a great whimsical touch.
As well as matting the photo onto several papers, I created a tag and then layered up stickers from the 12 x 12 Cardstock comb stickers. I like to add stickers around the photo to really draw the eye.
Weekend Vibes
I don’t normally appear on a layout without animal ears or filters because like so many of us, I’m not keen on my own photos! However, it is good to challenge ourselves to and put us in our albums every now and then.
I have used Elle’s Studio Noteworthy collection for this layout. Although it was released some time ago, I’ve always loved the graphic feel and colour combo of the collection. I also used Heidi Swapp Adventure Die-cut Ephemara and Heidi Swapp Color Fresh sticker book. Both co-ordinate so well with this and many other projects.
The border across the torn papers is actually the maker’s strip from the bottom of the paper. To add interest, I punched holes in between each one – it makes them look like a tiny strip of tickets.
