Summer Lights by Pink Paislee
Hi! Niki here with you today with six layouts using the Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection. This collection is summer themed but I’ve only scrapped one photo of us on holiday, all the others are from a day trip out and other random occasions so even though it is summer themed, I’ve managed to use it for a variety of different subjects so it turns out that it is not just for summer after all!
Some of the papers are utterly gorgeous, particularly the varigated ones. For my first layout ‘Adventure’ I used one of those papers to cut a cut file with, I then used theremainder of the paper to frame my layout that was made of white card. I added the varigated palm trees onto the white card and added coordinating splatters of water colour paint. I then added my photo and all my embellishments towards the bottom. I also used my Typecast Typewriter to add the journaling. The title is an acrylic word by Freckled Fawn.
For my second layout (awesome) I also used a cut file and this time backfilled using the smaller papers from the 6×6 paper pad. I added torn strips at the top of the layout and three photos – one more than my usual lol
For this layout ‘smile’ I took inspiration from the instax camera that was featured within this collection. I didn’t have my Silhouette with me as I was away on a weekend retreat so I got out a piece of paper (the back of a HLM receipt!) and drew a camera. After a few attempts I was happy with the shape and then I used that as a template to draw around and cut out. I had also drawn all the little pieces onto the same template so once I’d cut out the main shape, I then cut out the little bits too and used those as templates too. By the end I had lots of small bits of paper! I layered all the bits together and then used my paper piercer and mat to poke holes and then I stitched around them – thanks to Nancy for the white thread! I was really pleased with how this turned out especially as I didn’t have the help of my electronic machine! I used the 6×6 paper pad for my camera pieces.
I added some typed journaling to the top of the layout and added a bright border and my photo and very large glittery title. Jo turned up to our HLM retreat with a pack of these large titles (they were from a Jen Hadfield collection a couple of years ago) and asked if anyone wanted them so we turned that into a challenge and gave one to everyone to use by the end of the weekend – thanks Jo! I actually used two in the end, I love a challenge 🙂
For this layout ‘girl squad’ I used a cut file by Just Nick and backed each circle using papers from the 6×6 pad. I used my water colours to add colour beneath each circle, added a bright border and also used a number of those holographic squares from the 12×12 sheet to add extra detail to my layout.
For this layout ‘hello’ I used loads of those holographic squares from the 12×12 sheet and arranged them onto my layout. I also used clouds that I fussy cut from the 12×12 sheet and I stitched through them using a sewing machine. The title was a very old wooden word I’ve had in my stash for ages but I gave it a makeover with some pink metallic paint!
I made my final layout ‘Friends’ using the same technique I used for the camera, except this time I used a silhouette machine to get those circles right. I made the emojis (also taking inspiration from the icons featured within the collection) and added hand stitching to them. I added machine stitching around the edges of the layout. I used lots of ephemera and chipboard to add details to my layout. The title is from a Thickers set from the Girl Squad collection.
Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my layouts!
