Storyteller, Vicki Boutin | Julie Taylor
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you again today, sharing 2 layouts using the gorgeous new Vicki Boutin collection, Storyteller. It’s full of rich jewel like colours with flowers, stars, stripes, feathers, circles there’s plenty to chose from & to suit every crafters taste.
Enjoy every moment
I started my first layout by adding some mixed media to some white cardstock. I’d recently purchased some glass bead texture gel & wanted to give it a try so scrapped it through one of the wild soul stencils & let it dry, I then added some powdered inks & spritzed with water, allowing it to run around the groves made by the stencil. as you can see it gives some great texture & interest to your background.
I then started adding all the yumminess to the left hand side, tearing a piece of Bohemian paper & curling the edge & adding ruffled crepe paper, chipboard, trim, stitching & stickers & ephemera.
I sewed the 2 feathers to look like they were hanging down & added the title to the side of the photo.
I added a ripped section & some ephemera, over on the righthand side to balance the layout out.
I wanted my second layout to be on black cardstock, for something different & to make the colour pop but knew you wouldn’t see much mixed media so coated it, roughly, with white gesso, making it part of the design.
I then added texture paste, inked circles & splatters, all in colours to complement the papers.
I’d decided on a circle theme after seeing that 12×12 foiled vellum paper, which I just had to fussy cut!! I cut out some circles from Bohemian & Daises papers & added those along with some stitched circles around the page in small clusters.
& added some messy stitching over the vellum pieces. I picked a few pieces of the die cut ephemera & mounted my photo on top of it to the top right.
my title is off the Puffy Phrase & Icon Thickers.
I have really enjoyed working with this collection & will be back later in the month with 2 more layouts.
until next time, happy crafting
