Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again.

Today I’m sharing with you my latest layout featuring the wonderful Vicki Boutin Fernwood collection. This layout came about by accident really. I’d been sorting some Christmas presents and had bought a cable knit jumper as a gift. I was reminded of the jumpers my relatives had worn in the past and in particular this photo of my parents sporting matching jumpers. When I saw the B side of the Fernwood – Wonderful Things patterned paper. I knew it reminded me of these jumpers!

Turning the paper around I dug through my embroidery threads to find colours to compliment the 6 zig zags. Using a needle to poke the holes down each zig zag I hand sewed using 6 strands in backstitch. I managed to do the sewing over a few nights in front of the TV.

Using the Story of us puffy stickers I used this phrase for the title adding it above my photo. My photo was matted on the paper in the stencil pack which looked lovely and painty.

To go with the title I wanted the option to add some stories about my parents to this page so I added some tags on either side of the photo.  Some I cut myself and some taken from the Fernwood tags patterned paper. The 3 on the left side are fake but the 3 on the right are all backed with white cardstock for all my journalling. I checked with my Mum and we talked about the colours of these jumpers and who had knitted them & I’ve written this on the tags.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum to show off the sewing,  adding a flair, chipboard and die cuts to the photo. If you would like to watch the process there is a video here.
