Stay Colorful by Dear Lizzy
Hey there Hey Little Magpie fans! Niki here with you today and I have loads of layouts to share using the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful collection. I knew as soon as I saw this collection that it was perfect for me, nice and girly with pretty colours but not hugely themed. I have a girl and a boy and I’m not afraid to include photos of my boy on layouts that have pink in them, as long as the colours are happy and bright, that’s perfect for my style of scrapping.
From this collection I had the 12×12 papers, the 6×6 paper pad, Cardstock Stickers, Die-Cut Ephemera, Foiled Phrase Thickers, Glitter Alphabet Thickers, Layered Icon Stickers and the Puffy Stickers.
For my first layout, Awesome, I used a cut file by Paige Evans and cut out the word Awesome. I actually cut this from an older sheet of patterned paper. I then filled each letter with papers from the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful 6×6 paper pad. I added some sprays to my background paper and layered the big cut file on top. I added my photos and a journaling card at the top and added loads of little embellishments.
For ‘Live out Loud’ I used a free cut file to cut my background and then simply layered this onto a multi coloured sheet of the Stay Colorful paper. The colours shine through the cut file and I added one small photo down the bottom with some of the ephemera to bring it all together.
For ‘Life is the Bubbles’ I used a cut file by Paige Evans and backfilled each one of those semi circles with papers from the 6×6 Stay Colorful paper pad. I love to see the collection in this way, all the colours and patterns randomly mixed in. There was so much colour on the page that I added a solid strip of paper at the top of the layout and a few layers under my photo to anchor it all together and then added a few mermaid embellishmens and the title in those gorgeous glittery Stay Colorful Thickers.
For ‘Hello’ I kept things a bit simpler and I didn’t use a cut file. I simply utilised one of the cut apart sheets from the collection and a few of the chipboard pieces from the Phrase Thickers and lots of ephemera and puffy stickers. This layout came together really quickly and I love the look, even though its far less busy than the others I have made.
‘Pure Magic’ has a bit of a back story…I recently took part in a cybercrop and this layout was made for one of the challenges on there. The challenge was a scraplift challenge with lots of different strips of paper. I made a basic layout using one sheet of the Stay Colorful paper cut into pieces. I changed the design slightly so instead of the strips being all over the background, I left an area of white space for me to place my photo. I was never really happy with the finished result so I pulled it apart and re-worked it a few days ago. I’ve added more layers under my photos, added stitching to the strips of paper, added more embellishment clusters and added the Pure Magic title in those gorgeous Thickers. I finished off with splatters and sequins, and now the layout feels a whole lot more like my own style! Sometimes you just need to step away from a project to be able to see what’s wrong with it 🙂
Thank you so much for joining me today and these very colorful layouts – happy scrapping and Stay Colorful xxx
