ST CHRISTOPHER’S PLACE – 49 & Market – Vintage Artistry Naturalist – Wendy Meffan
Hey Magpies! It’s Wendy here and this is my final blog post for 2021. I am using 49 & Market Vintage Artistry Naturalist which is not a Christmas Collection at all but I decided I wanted to make a Christmas layout so have played around with the collection showing you can almost create anything you want even if the collection isn’t intended for a specific theme.
I had the idea I would make a Christmas tree using the paper paper rolling technique and as the collection is full of green and the B sides of some of the papers were red and yellow which I felt could be incorporated into a Christmas layout . I had preciously cut the 12×12 journal cards paper into all the journal cards so I used some of them and cut them into fine strips . I then rolled the ends of several pieces and started arranging them in the shape of a Christmas tree. Then I used the B sides of the Tattered Wings and Classified papers and cut finer strips and rolled them to appear like the lights and baubles on the tree. having positioned all the pieces for the tree I decided I needed some mixed media behind so took it all up and made a mixed media background using distress oxides, then I replaced the strips and glued them down to create the tree
I punched out an embossed star from the Classified paper on the B side which is yellow.
I then took the edge strip from the Classified paper which has red doodle stars along it and used it to make a border at the top of the layout. I used some dies to cut out some leaves in red and green and added them into a cluster with some of the ephemera and chipboard stickers from the Collection. I then added another embossed punched star.
Having positioned the tree to the left of the layout I chose to keep my photos low down along the bottom go the layout. i used two journal card and created small tags, I distressed their edges and added some twine to them. I die cut some holly leaves and added to the top of the tags. I then used a chipboard frame over one of the pictures and added an ephemera frame behind the photos.
I cut some more leaves using the dies and created a small cluster under the photo. I added a piece of chipboard and another punched star.
I then added some ephemera under the photos and some more die cut leaves.
Considering this collection is a nature collection and about being outside i was vert pleased with my layout, we were outside having a drink as we now tend to choose outside seating because of Covid, and I pick the most appropriate words on the ephemera.
If you haven’t seen this collection do take a look at it in the Hey Little Magpie shop.
We also love to see your creation so please do post them over on the Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration Facebook page
I would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year and will see you again in 2022.
