Spring Vibes with Simple Stories | Julie Taylor
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you again today sharing 2 layouts using the new Simple Stories collection Bunnies & Blooms, a gorgeous cute, spring, easter collection with great fresh colours of lemon, pale green, lilac & soft pink.
Park Life
I started this page by adding some texture paste, through a stencil, onto the background cardstock & adding some ink splatters.
I then cut out lots of circles, in all sizes, making some solid & some open & added them, in 3 clusters, around my page. On the top right cluster I stencilled some rays to represent the sun & loosely outlined it with a grey pen.
I then cut my 2 photos into circles & backed them with white cardstock also cut in circles. I raised both my photos on foam tape & hand stitched even more circles to each cluster.
I added some bits of ephemera, brads & enamel dots, to each cluster & added my title using alphas out my stash.
Signs of Spring
The stencil, that comes with this collection, inspired my next layout. I thought it would make a great page but wanted it bigger than the 6×6 stencil so I made my own, using papers out the collection!! I hand drew my rainbow, onto scrap paper, & then transferred it onto patterned papers out the 6×8 pad & 12×12 sheets & zigzag sewed down the centre of each one, in co-ordinating thread to add some texture.
I cut some white cardstock down to 11×11, inked the edges in yellow, distressed them & then sewed it onto the In Full Bloom paper, adding my rainbow onto this. I left a gap between the last & 3rd arch, as in the stencil, & filled it with all the lovely blooms off the 12×12 cardstock stickers & 6×12 chipboard stickers.
I made a small photo cluster, at the bottom right of the rainbow, using a tag & ephemera pieces.
My title comes from the Foam stickers, which has great words & plenty of spring icons
I’ve loved using this collection & it’s happy spring colours & I’ll be back, later in the month, with 2 more layouts using it.
until next time,
