So Much Pun with Doodlebug!

Good morning Magpies, it’s Rachel here with the So Much Pun collection from Doodlebug this month. I had great success last year using the Hello Collection from Doodlebug. I do have to say, I never thought of myself as a Doodlebug scrapper. I had an idea their collections were very themed and twee and clearly I thought of myself as way more cool and cutting edge than that. But no, if Doodlebug is themed and twee then so am I because I find it so easy to create with their collections! So I urge you to take a look at them next time you’re shopping. You might find them just as easy to use as I do. I have definitely moved Doodlebug right up my list of favourite manufacturers and I can not wait for their next collections to arrive! I love all the little creatures and people in their lines and the colours are right up my street, nice and bright and clean and they all co-ordinate together because they use the same colour palates. It’s fabulous and I love them!
My first LO came about because I was shopping for new cushions for my lounge. I came across this colour blocked one and I was off to my craft room like a shot and building a colour blocked grid for my background!

I had to use the amazing Just My Stripe paper because a stripe, yes please! I also used a couple of little bits from the 6×6 Paper Pad and then I needed some more plain patterns so I went to my leftover Doodlebug Hello collection and used the turquoise Hello paper, and I had some leftovers from the Sweet Summer collection too and I used the pink Summer Paradise and the green Summer Fun paper from there. See what I mean about Doodlebug collections all mixing in together, it’s fabulous! I built my grid around the ‘don’t hurry, be happy’  card from the Best I Ever Plaid cut apart paper. I loved that sloth and had to use him first! So then I took the one from the Odd & Ends Die-Cuts pack and popped him up on some foam pads.
My title, good thymes, is from the other die-cuts pack, Chit-Chat. There are two separate packs of die-cuts in this collection, one has the words and speech bubbles, the Chit-Chat pack and the Odds & Ends is the pictures. They are quite large die-cuts and there are masses in each pack. I know they might seem a little bit more expensive than your usual pack of ephemera or die-cuts but believe me, they’re huge and they are worth it. After I put my title on some foam pads, I added some of the Icon Stickers of the little pot plants on foam pads as well cause I thought they went with the good thymes title! The final touch was a hand drawn border around the edge and some Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I really wanted to use the ‘I otter-ly adore you’ card from the cut-apart Best I Ever Plaid paper so that’s what I started with for my next LO. I took a sheet of paper from the 6×6 Paper Pad and placed my otter-ly card and photo on the background paper. Then I used some of the heart Lots of Love Washi Tape from the Hello collection above and below because the colours were perfect. I decided to add the ‘you’re rawr-some’ die-cut banner from the Chit-Chat Die-Cuts pack on some foam pads and then added some of the cute little dinosaurs from the Icons Sticker Sheet and the gorgeous little otter as well.

I don’t know about you but I would have looked at a collection like So Much Pun and thought I couldn’t possibly use it because I don’t have kids and I’d have to use these cute little things on photos of kids. But no way, you can use things on whatever you want! I use things just because they make me smile and these cute critters from Doodlebug make me smile. So check out the So Much Pun collection and also what is left in the shop from Hello and Sweet Summer. I will be back on February 16th with some more LO’s for you, I’ll see you then Magpies!
