Snow Fun – Echo Park – Winter Collection – Wendy Meffan
Hey Magpies Happy New Year! It’s Wendy here with my first layout of 2022 and it’s all about Winter. The weather has become so cold the layout is quite timely. I am using Echo Park Winter Collection. It is a stunning collection in an array of gorgeous blues just perfect for winter photos .
I have been doing a little bit of cupboard clearing and came across some very old photos taken when my children were learning to ski. As I came into scrapbooking later than some of their childhood memories I felt these were ideal photos to scrap with this collection.
I wanted to showcase some of the different papers available so I used a selection from the 6×6 paper pad, along with a couple of 12×12 papers. I tore them to look like mountains and left the white edges of the papers at the top. Along the edge I added sticky fixers for some dimension between the layers. I then decided where I would place the two photos to look like my son was on the mountain! I matted them both on two more papers from the 6×6 pad and distressed the edges.
I used a Tim Holtz tree die and cut 5 trees in different papers and added them to the layout.
Once the trees were stuck on I added the photos using sticky fixers for some dimension to the layout. Around the lower photo I made a small cluster using pieces from the 12×12 multi journalling card paper and fussy cut some flowers from a paper in the 6×6 pad and added a tree sticker from the sticker sheet ( this is actually The Carta Bella Welcome Winter Collection of stickers another perfect match for the Echo Park Collection!) I mounted them on white card stock for extra thickness. On the trees and the edges of the torn paper I used some Nuvo Morning Blizzard glitter drops to give a little sparkle!
I used a small house die to create a little village on the lower left of the layout and added some more trees from the sticker sheet and the lorry from the adhesive brads.
Behind the top photo I attached a frame from the ephemera pack and then used a snow flake sticker which I had cut in half and used around the other photo as well. I also added a fussy cut flower from one of the multi journalling cards on the 12×12 paper (you can see this in the above photo)
I felt the top of the layout was looking a little too white, so tore a strip from the B side of the 12×12 Frosted Floral paper. I attached this over the top of the layout and added another small torn strip to the left. I used the SNOW FUN stickers and punched a hole in each one and threaded through some white waxed string. I then added a small length of white pompoms, you can’t have a snow layout without any pompoms!
I dotted a few snowflake stickers from the sticker sheet around the layout.
Finally I added the Bramblefox Winter perspextive from my advent calendar which added a gorgeous finishing touch to the layout.
I loved how this layout came together and it really gave me a feel of being in the mountains . if you’ve not seen this collection do take a look over in the Hey Little Magpie Shop.
Please do share your layouts over on the Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration Facebook page , we love to see your creations.
Till next time, I wish you a wonderful 2022 and lots of scrapping.
