Simple Stories – Take Note | Jackie Ashton

Hi Jackie here, sharing a layout created using theSimple Stories – Take Notes collection, and I had so much fun playing with texture, layers, and soft colour contrasts on this one.

I started with a white cardstock base, adding subtle stencil detailing, which gives the page a little extra interest without overwhelming the design. Across the middle of the page, I layered a torn strip of pink scripted patterned paper, curling the lower edge slightly for added movement and dimension. Beneath that, I tucked in a 2-inch piece of teal spotted paper, also torn and gently curled, then repeated that same teal paper at the top of the page with a straight edge to balance everything out.

Have you seen the new additional to the website –  stitched rulers, I used the herringbone stitch ruler using white thread, stitching straight across the top of the patterned papers. It adds such a lovely handmade touch and subtle texture.

My3x4 photo is layered with coordinating patterned papers and popped up using 3D foam for depth. I placed it to the left, creating room for embellishing and visual flow. Tucked neatly behind the photo is a tag with hidden journaling, perfect for keeping personal thoughts close without cluttering the design.

To the right of the photo, I added my title from the foam sticker sheet, with word phrase stickers layered underneath.

A second, smaller cluster anchors the bottom of the page, tying everything together.

Finally, I finished off with a few brads and foam hearts scattered around the layout for extra texture and a playful finish.

This layout came together beautifully and really highlights how versatile the True Notes collection is—perfect for documenting everyday moments with softness and style.
