Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse | Jo Boland

Hey there. It’s Jo here with a couple of scrapbook layouts using the Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse collection. It’s a lovely bright collection of florals, ginghams and summer icons with a vintage vibe.

Scrapbook Layout 1 – Farmers Market

For this layout I used a wide band of Sunny Day paper and added two strips of Simple Pleasures paper under the top and bottom edges. I used a scalloped border punch from my stash on both strips and kraft cardstock for the background. I’ve added a little cluster to the bottom corner with a chipboard sticker and a die-cut tag from the Journal Bits & Pieces pack. I added some bakers twine from my stash to the punched tag. This tag represents my title for the layout.

My photo is layered on Backyard BBQ paper and I’ve popped up the top edge on foam pads. I’ve tucked a Farmers Market sticker from the 12 x 12 Combo Sticker Sheet under the photo and word strip above it.

Around the photo I have added the scales piece from the Bits & Pieces die-cut pack and a lemon from the 6 x 12 Chipboard Sticker pack.

I’ve also used three stickers (floral sign, strawberry punnet and group of strawberries) from the 12 x 12 Combo Sticker sheet and two little chipboard strawberries. Plus I’ve added journaling on a card from the Journal Bits die-cut pack.

Scrapbook Layout 2 – Summer Ice Cream

For this layout I went for mostly pastel shades from the collection and pulled out some of the ice cream ephemera. I chose to use white cardstock, adding some light splodges of colour from my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide sprays ‘Broken China’ and ‘Spun Sugar’. My photo is layered on top of Perfect Day paper and Choose to Shine paper which I’ve distressed the edges of. I’ve torn the top of the cardstock and added a piece of the ice cream paper ‘Perfect Day’ behind it. The title ‘Summer’ is a chipboard sticker as is the ice cream piece. The ice cream word strip is from the Journaling Bits pack.

I’ve tucked an ice cream ephemera piece under the photo and mounted the ice cream cart on foam pads. The cart is from the Bits & Pieces pack and the sign is from the Journal Bits pack. I’ve added a few enamel dots and woodgrain heart stickers here and there on the layout. These thin stickers are from the 4×6 Sticker Book. To the right of the photo I have added a journaling piece from the Journaling Bits pack and made a pinwheel. The pinwheel is cut from the Simple Pleasures paper which is covered in pinwheels on the a-side. I just trimmed one out, cut down the diagonals stopping short of the centre. The I bent over the flaps and used glue and a yellow brad from my stash to secure them in position.

Along the bottom of the layout I’ve adhered a strip of ice creams trimmed from the Perfect Day paper. On top of this I have added a pinwheel and a banner die-cut from the Bits & Pieces die-cut pack.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’ll be back later in the month with some more inspiration using the Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse collection.
