Hello again Magpies,

This month I’m sharing some bright & colourful layouts using Simple Stories new collection ‘Simple Vintage Lemon Twist’. With its palette of yellow, turquoise & black it lends itself to documenting all your summer photos.

 

Sweet Life

 

 

For my first layout I used 3 photos cut down to fit a triple frame from the collection. It has a large cluster of images on one edge, so I didn’t need to add too much to the design.

 

 

I lightly stencilled a random pattern of dots in yellow ink onto some cream coloured cardstock. I added sprinkles of green paint, then  trimmed it to fit a floral background paper.

 

 

I added a couple of paper die cuts & a phrase sticker below the frame on the right.

 

 

Then I chose a title from the collection & added my journaling next to it.

 

 

Finally I cut a lemon from one of the papers & glued it to the lower right with some word stickers.

 

This layout came together quite quickly due to the frame being quite a large element. It’s a great collection if you want to make some pages but are short of time!

 

 

Luna

My next layout uses some of the many beautiful die cuts to embellish a simple photo of my daughter’s dog. You’ll be spoilt for choice as the ephemera packs are full of flowers, butterflies & bees!

 

 

After sprinkling some blue & black paint onto cream cardstock, I began by layering the photo with white & two patterned papers.

 

 

I added a variety of stickers below the photo, including a couple of phrases & a cute bumble bee! Using an alphabet from my stash I added the dog’s name as well.

 

I grouped some of the larger ephemera pieces to the left of the photo, with some butterflies.

 

I had the idea of adding some simple line drawings of lemon slices around the photo. I didn’t want to use more ephemera in case the layout looked too ‘busy’. So I planned where to draw them & lightly sketched the shapes. Not satisfied with that, I painted some of them using some brush markers!

 

If this is something you would like to try, cut out a shape or use one from the ephemera & trace round it, adding colour when you’re happy with the placement! (It doesn’t have to be perfect!)
