Simple Stories – Simple Vintage – Dear Santa | Jackie Ashton
Hi Jackie here, with my last post or October using Simple Stories – Simple Vintage Dear Santa collection. This is a long post as I detailed how I created each page.
For these pages I’ve worked outside the page protectors, adding pockets, flaps and flips to each page.
Inside the Simple Stories – Snap Red Binder, are 3 kraft dividers, eight patterned papers as well as some page protectors. I decided to use one of the kraft dividers as a base for my pages.
Started by using the 6×8 paper pad, I choose two patterned papers, trimming the green one down so that it was slightly smaller than the kraft divider. I then add a torn piece of patterned paper to the bottom, leaving the top open so that I could add journaling tags to the pocket. I used a selection of tags from the Tag Elements paper and the Journaling Element paper and added ribbon to each of them.
To decorate the front on this page I used Chipboard Clusters pieces.
On the reverse of the kraft divider, I added a flip up page.
Using patterned paper from 12×12 Collection kit, I cut the sheets 6” lengthways, and folded the top edge over at 4”. On the inside of this page I added a photo mat measuring 6×4, adding a layered piece at the bottom using 3D foam, and leaving the top free so that I can slide my photograph behind.
On the 4” flap, I’ve added a strip of patterned paper and ribbon and added a phase from the Foam Sticker sheet. I then added a small cluster to the right hand side of the flap and added ribbon behind so that that flap can be lifted easily.
My next pages are made from white cardstock which I cut down to measure 8” x 4.5”, using the page protector as a guide, I measured the spine, scored the fold edge and punched the holes. Using patterned paper from 6”x8” pad I added the same patterned paper to the front and the back. The front I added a journaling element, stickers from the sticker book, and foam stickers from the Foam Sticker sheet. On the reverse I added a Chipboard Cluster, foam stickers and word phase stickers.
My 2nd cardstock page, I added two pieces of scrap patterned papers to the lower edge of the cardstock, leaving the tops free to make two pockets. I added a cut-apart journaling element and a cut apart tag to each pocket and foam stickers to embellish.
On the reserves I added a piece of patterned paper, and added a diagonal piece on the left to foam a pocket, adding journaling card.
My final page – Jolly Holiday
Using Holly & Jolly patterned paper which I cut down to 12” x 8”, again using a page protector as a guide I measured the spine, scored the fold edge and punched the holes. Then I scored 5.5” from the right hand side – so that the page folded over but didn’t meet the other side.
On the inside I added a 6×4 photograph mat, added some patterned papers behind. I them added foam stickers to the top and bottom of this mat and tucked some stickers behind the mat.
On the front of the page – I added some scrap paper with ribbon and topped it with chipboard cluster piece.
On the reverse – I added scraps of patterned papers and a layered piece to form an embellishment cluster.
I created these as I wanted to add some additional elements to my album pages, rather than just adding mu inserts to page protectors.
The Layered Bits & Pieces and the Chipboard Clusters are two great embellishment items, to add the layered effect without having to design them yourself and also without the added bulk.
I hope like my first batch of prep pages using this fabulous collection.
