Simple Stories – Say Cheese Main Street – Part 2 | Amy Kattenbelt

Hello Scrappers, Amy here today to share with you two more layouts featuring the Say Cheese Main Street collection by Simple Stories. Its a great collection to use for days out – although there are several pieces that allude to Disney, If you take a look at my last layout you can see the collection can easily be used for other day trips out, or indeed for any happy memories.

Happy Memories

Using white cardstock as my background, I started the layout by creating some mixed media with black ink and the fireworks stencil that comes with this collection. This stencil would also be great for layouts celebrating Bonfire night, New Years Eve or even big celebrations like birthdays and weddings!

I added a fine black splattering with some liquid black ink on top of my stencilling. I then matted my square photo with two of the patterned papers. The yellow diagonal paper is once of my favourites! As you can see the colours in the photo really are a perfect match for my photo – red, yellow and black with a touch of pale blue. The photo I am using was taken during a childhood visit to Disneyland back in 1991.

With the photo in place, I added my title from the foam stickers, and then went to town decorating the background with stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet. I particularly love how the black castle matched my black mixed media work. Next I added some of the smaller die cuts from the ephemera pack.

I added full length stripes in different patterned papers along the top and the bottom of the layout. The distressed edges give added texture. The date was added from the Simple Stories Colour Vibe Alphabet book.

Efteling Treats

For this layout I wanted to show how this collection does not solely have to be used for Disney scrapping. So if you don’t have any Disney photos, don’t immediately discard this collection. The colours are so bright and vibrant and many of the pieces work will with other photos. In this layout I am using a photo taken at the Dutch theme park called Efteling. I decided I wanted to make this layout all about the food! Can you also spot that one of the photos is in fact a drawing I made of the same building that’s in the photo…

This sticker of the 5 houses is really such a great match to that of my photo. The photo is of the Ice cream and Waffle shop, hence the food elements. I added my title underneath this sticker, again from a Color Vibe alphabet book.

The main layout uses the cloud patterned paper. I cut a large star out of this, and also cut it down to 11 3/4″ square. Then on  a smooth black piece of card I cut a slightly smaller star out of this so when it was placed behind it creates a frame. Lastly I layers a smooth white piece of cardstock under both these layouts so the central star was white.

Next, I pulled out all the great snack and food related ephemera and stickers from the packets and arrange them to fit inside the star shape.

I filled in the small gaps with black star stickers.

I matted one of my photos in white and the other in black. Adding a few stickers around them to create added impact and really draw your eye back to the photos. Lastly the date was added in the bottom right corner in the same stickers as the title.
