Simple Stories – Say Cheese Main Street – Part 1 | Amy Kattenbelt

Hi Magpies, Amy here today to share with you a few layouts using the Simple Stories – Say Cheese – Main Street Collection.

Magical Memories – Make A Wish

For my first layout I took inspiration from the cover of the collections Flipbook album. The mouse outline was pretty easy to recreate and cut out. I used the black small dot paper from the 12×12 Basic Kit and placed it on top of the red large dot paper from the same kit. Before I placed the black cut out onto my layout I actually cut down the red paper to 11.5″ square. Then I backed it onto white cardstock to frame the layout. I then placed the black mouse outline to the very left hand side of the layout, overlapping the white border.

I am using this collection to document the precious few photos I own that were taken during a family holiday to Disneyland back in 1991. First I matted by 3×4 photo first in white, then with a very narrow border of black. Lastly I formed a triple mat by using the yellow diagonal striped pattern paper. The yellow provides a good contract to the red and black and make my photo stand out. I added a cluster of die cuts to the upper left corner of the frame, popping up the word piece with foam dots. I then added some small puffy stickers to the cluster too.

This layout has two titles, I formed ‘Make A Wish’ using the Wish die cuts and added the yellow stickers from the Simple Stories Color Vibe alphabet book (you may have noticed I really love these, and use them a lot!).  I layered up two of the puffy stickers by the title too.

The second title, ‘Magical Memories’ was from the foam phrase sticker set. These are a very good way to add titles to your layout. The extra dimension makes them really pop off the layout. Next I added a few more die cuts and puffy stickers by this second title.

I finished the layout off by adding little hearts overlapping some of the large dots on the red paper. These hearts were from both the die cut pack, the puffy sticker set and the 12×12 sticker sheet.

Havin’ A Blast

For my second layout I used a patterned paper from the Simple Stories – Bunnies & Bloom collection called Egg Hunt. This pastel purple spotty paper may not be the most obvious pairing with the Main Street collection. However, it was the perfect colour to match my photo. I matched it with stripes of the pastel pink dotted paper from the Say Cheese Main Street 12×12 Basic Kit.

As with my first layout, I used the yellow diagonal paper to mat my photo. I then double matted it on a larger piece of  pale blue floral paper. The pastel blue background with the classic red, black and yellows of the flowers helps tie in the whole look of the layout.

I also used a large strip of the teacup paper.  Once all the paper was stuck down, I added the title from the foam sticker pack. The ‘fun this way’ die cut was placed at the top of the photo. The arrow really suits the movement of the tea cup ride!

I added a second foam sticker to the left of the photo, the phrase reads ‘go. see. ride’. To balance this black foam sticker, I placed the black mouse shaped die-cut on the opposite side of the photo.

Because all the different patterned paper and colours makes this layout pretty busy already, I simply finished it off my embellishing it with all the teacup icons. These were from the foam stickers, the sticker sheets and the die cut pack. I tried to keep them balanced both sides of the vertical so the design was easy on the eye and all attention focused to the photo.

Thanks for coming to take a closer look at my layouts. I will back in a few weeks to share a few more ideas using this collection. In the meantime Take Care and Stay Safe,
