Simple Stories Oh, Happy Day!

Hello Magpies,

June is here already and I have two summery layouts to share with you. I’m using Simple Stories ‘Oh, Happy Day’ and it’s a bright, colourful collection with some very cute embellishments.

For my first layout I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to place over a patterned paper to frame it. Then I laid a strip of black spotty paper along the lower edge. I mounted the photo onto colourful paper and placed it over the dotty strip, slightly left of centre. 

I then cut four tags which I embellished with a selection of stickers and die cuts from the ephemera pack. There are lots to chose from and plenty left for more layouts! I added a thread to the largest tag and tucked them all behind the top of the photo. 

I added my title, using Thickers from my own stash, along the top edge of the dotty paper and glued some word stickers below it. I added a larger word sticker below the photo and a little llama to the left of it.

Then I added a cluster of stickers to the top right corner of the layout and finished the page by drawing some ‘crosses’ along the edges of the white cardstock to mimic the background paper pattern.

For my second layout I started by gluing two strips of patterned paper down the left side of the white cardstock base. Then I distressed the edges of the photo and the 2 mounts and added it to the right of the strips. 

There are so many fun embellishments in this collection that I added a whole row of them down the length of the patterned paper! I made sure they were placed at varying angles in keeping with the informal design of the page. I added my journalling to a square cut from one of the papers and placed another square next to it.

Then I put some word stickers and some enamel dots among the row of embellishments. And added a die cut word as my title.

I drew three lines along the edge of the white cardstock in colours to match the papers to finish it off.
