Simple Stories Hey Crafty Girl Part 1 | Jo Boland

Hey there crafty girls! Jo here with my first batch of projects for February. This month I’ve chosen the Simple Stories collection Hey Crafty Girl. I love it! The colour palette, the icons and of course the theme is right up my street.

Scrapbook Layout ‘Must Make Stuff’

The first thing I want to share is a scrapbook layout I made ‘Must Make Stuff’, the perfect statement for a crafty girl like me who scrapbooks, crochets and is a florist. I make stuff everyday. [The cutfile is by Paige Evans and is available in the Silhouette store and in Paige’s Etsy store.]

I backed the aperture of the cutfile with the Made with Love paper from the collection. Gluing back into place the little pieces that were between the letters and adding some ink splatters. Then I replaced the Must Make Stuff phrase back into position on foam pads to make it subtly stand out.

I tore the sides of the white cardstock and added a 1″ strip of Crafty & Happy paper to the back making it 12″ wide again. The subtitle is a die-cut from the Bits & Pieces pack which I raised up on foam pads.

I nearly didn’t add a photo, but decided I’d print a small recent selfie I’d taken in my craft room. Around the photo I’ve clustered two chipboard stickers and two die-cut pieces popped up on foam pads. The phrase is from the Journal Bits & Pieces and the clock is from the Bits & Pieces. Other ephemera bits are placed around the cutfile words, along with some more chipboard stickers.

Project Two – Live, Love CREATE mini

Yes, it’s another mini book, I can’t help myself, I love making them! This mini book documents the crochet blankets I’ve made with a photo of each of the finished blankets. I included some details about each blanket and a swatch tag of the yarn and colours used. The book is held together with book rings so that I can easily add more blanket spreads to the mini book. And yes, I’ve another blanket on the go at the moment, plus another in my head that I can’t wait to make.

I’ve used die-cut pieces from both packs, a chipboard sticker and cardstock stickers too. The covers are made from 4×4″ cardboard covered in kraft cardstock and the b-side of the 4×6 Elements paper.  I’ve added faux stitching around the edges with a white pen. The inner pages are 4×4″ pieces of smooth white cardstock and the tags are cut from kraft cardstock. I’ve used Elle’s Studio stamps throughout and my WRMK crop-a-dile to punch the holes.
