Simple Stories – Celebrate Cards | Jo Boland

Hey, it’s Jo here and this month I’m using the Celebrate collection from Simple Stories. I’ve been excited waiting to get my hands on this collection as I needed to make cards and well there’s no better collection than this! I like to batch make my cards to cover me for most of the year, with the exception of Christmas and special events like Valentines and Mother’s Day.

This collection is colourful but classy and has some fabulous timeless designs, plus the colour palette is lovely too. I ordered nearly every paper and a lot of the others stickers and embellishments. I’ve made a YouTube video to show what items I got from the collection, which will give you an idea of what I used for the cards.

I always have a supply of card blanks and envelopes to hand because I make a lot of cards, I prefer using kraft coloured ones. However, if you’re only making the odd card then you can totally make your own card blanks from cardstock or you can buy a pack of 5 square white cards and envelopes from the Hey Little Magpie store here. The first batch I’m going to share are the A6 sized cards.

A6 Size Celebrate Cards

For these cards I used the following papers – Top Row – Let’s Celebrate for the upper section (and blue stripe), plus Happy Everything (yellow) and Your Special Day (peachy pink). Bottom Row – All The Cake. The embellishments came from the Bits & Pieces die-cuts, Foam Stickers, Number Bits, Sticker Book and Enamel Dots. The labels were made using a Dymo Label maker and various coloured tapes. I raised up the cardstock pieces and labels on foam pads.

This set contain a mix of the 4×6 Elements paper and the Your Special Day paper (confetti). I’ve used foam stickers and my label maker again on some of these. The other sentiment stickers are from the 12×12 Sticker Sheet raised on foam pads. The florals are also from the sticker sheet and the stars on the cake card in the centre are from the sticker book. I’ve used Glossy Accents to make some bits on the cards shine, like the words ‘Happy Birthday’ on the floral card, ‘Confetti’ and dots on the top middle card and balloons and dots on the bottom right card. I’ve also added some gold ink splatters (from my stash) on the top left card, and a piece of vellum behind the floral paper.

Square Cards

The next batch of cards are all on 4×4″ card blanks, some kraft coloured and some white.

Cards on the top row have the Woo Hoo! paper as the background with foam stickers (red and yellow) and a sentiment sticker from the sticker book. I’ve backed the sticker with white card and fussy cut around. The middle left card has Your Special Day paper and a die-cut sentiment raised on foam pads. For the middle and bottom row all have word stickers from the sticker book backed with white cardstock. The middle right and bottom row all have cards cut from the 3×4 Elements paper with strips of other papers to the side. These include, Your Special Day (peachy pink) and Way To Go! (both squiggly lines and blue dots). The 3×4 cards and patterned papers are separated with a strip washi tape from the sticker book. I’ve also added some enamel dots, plus Glossy Accents to the ‘Woo Hoo’ on the middle card on the bottom row.

This batch has Glossy Accents on the word ‘Party’ plus the dots surrounded it, and the HB2U on the card. The card on the right on the top row has got Vicki Boutin gold glaze through the collection stencil. That particular card has flags and a sentiment banner from the die-cut bits & pieces pack. The cake from the bottom left card is from sticker book which I’ve backed with white card and cut out. The big star and sentiment is from the 12×12 sticker sheet and the little star is from the sticker book. The party hat is from the 12×12 sticker sheet and the last two sentiments are from the sticker book. I’ve added enamel dots to some cards and the ‘All the Cake’ card has been edged in the gold glaze.

I’ve made a YouTube video showing you all the cards, you can find it here.
