Shine! by Maggie Holmes

Hi Jackie here, with my post for this month using the lovely collection called Shine! by Maggie Holmes.
So first up is ‘Dream Today’ using a few photographs of my son, James finishing his 1st year at college.   I’m really proud that he had settled into college life and that he managed to pass all his first yea exams.
So for this layout I used the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  – Dreamy paper as my background, and added some stamped detail behind the photo mount.

Then I used a selection of patterned papers from the  Crate Paper – Maggie Holme – Shine! 6×6 pad behind my photo.
Adding some stickers from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  cardstock sticker sheet, and elements from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  – Puffy Shaped Stickers, and used the wood veneer as the title from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  – Wood Veneer Shape pack.

I added some journalling to the tag at the bottom of the photograph.

Prom shoot – My 2nd layouts is a simple layout – just using 2 sheets of patterned paper and some Thickers from this collection.

I used Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  – Darling Paper as the background – as the colours matched the suit and shirt my son was wearing, and then this paper – Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  Treasures Paper – which just called out to be cut out.
I printed off 5 small photographs of my son at his Prom shoot, that could fit inside some of the frames, and cut several of the frame designs out and added over the photographs.
I then layered then on the background paper as if I was laying out photographs on a wall, adding some twine and brads to a few of the frame to represent a picture hanging on a wall.  I also mounted a few of the frame with 3D foam to give them some more dimension.

I then added the title using both sets of Maggie Holme – shine! Thickers here and here.
A simple layout but I love how it turned out.
For my final layout ‘Best Day Ever’ I used a photographs of me and my husband on our wedding day, the photograph is not brilliant has it is a photograph of a photograph that has been scanned into my computer, but it one of my many favourite of the day.
So as my background I used Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  Cheer paper, and a selection of patterned papers from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  6×6 pad, adding my photograph on 3D foam pads and surrounded the photograph and mount with elements from the Ephemera  pack. which includes die cut pieces, acetate shapes and words.

I added stickers and elements  from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  sticker and puffy sticker sheets, and some hearts from the Crate Paper – Maggie Holmes – Shine!  wood veneer pack.

Again I used one the wood veneer pieces from this collection  as the title – which I painted with some gold acrylic paint from my stash.

I was pleasantly surprised by this collection and loved the muted tones of the patterned paper and I always think that Maggie Holmes collections are very girly, but with this one I felt it was more user friendly for both boy and girl layouts.
Well that all from me his month, I hope you can get some inspiration from the about layouts, and I will be back next month with my post using My Minds’ Eye – My Story collection.
