Shimelle Field Trip 2 | Jo Boland
Hey, Jo here back with another batch of layouts using the Shimelle Field Trip collection from American Crafts.
Layout 1 – Bude Print
This layout features the lovely 12×12 Die-cut paper from the collection, it’s colour palette is a little muted compared to the rest of the collection. I chose to use it with a photo I’d taken on holiday of a gorgeous print of Bude in the holiday cottage we’d rented, the colours matched perfectly. I trimmed a little off the edges of the sheet and backed the die-cut with a sheet of kraft cardstock. I decided that as most people who use this paper would pop up the coloured segments that I’d do the reverse and pop up the grid piece instead.
I made a cluster in the centre of the layout with a photo, a floral die-cut piece from the ephemera pack, stickers (leaves, dragonfly, journaling card, word strip and stamp) and a piece of the Between Classes paper as a photo mat. I popped up one of the inner segments to point into the photo.
I got out my distress oxide sprays and flicked matching colours of the segments around the edge of the circle. Some of the colours I mixed to achieve the right tones and I’m so pleased with the results! Lastly I added a small title with a label sticker and silver puffy letter stickers.
Layout 2 – The Big Lego Sort Out
My boys are now teenagers and the time has come to sort out the Lego which they no longer play with. They have so many kits, and the plan is to bag everything back into kits along with the instructions so that they can be either sold or kept. It’s a mammoth task, and I am slightly mad for even attempting it, however I like a challenge. The ephemera piece that says ‘hello my name is’ had to be used to explain my madness!
First of all I applied some white texture paste through a stencil from my stash to achieve what looks like Lego studs on the white cardstock. I used the striped side of the Going Up paper as a wide band across the layout and added my title using both the red and blue thickers which come in the same pack.
I used die-cuts from the ephemera pack and stickers around my photos as well as the top and bottom of the layout. The viewfinder is attached with a brad so that it can be turned around. Finally I added a few ink splatters to bring some colour on to the white background.
Thanks so much for looking, you can find the whole Shimelle Field Trip collection here.
I’ll be back next month with projects made using the One Canoe Two collection Willow.
