Sew lovely to stitch onto layouts…
It’s sew lovely to stitch onto layouts…
One of my all time passions is to sew, from the lovely sound the sewing machine makes to wearing the finished garment, it has been a hobby that I’ve stuck with since childhood…
And the same can be said for scrapbooking… whilst discovered later in life, the satisfaction of seeing a finished layout never leaves me. And I love incorporating sewing onto my layouts, although I’m guilty of all to often thinking that to get the sewing machine out is more a chore than a pleasure!
This month, sewing became the focus of my two layouts…
Swoon the loveliest paper ever!
A simply delicious die-cut paper from the stunning Kiss Kiss collection by Crate…
The top line of this paper became the focus for my first layout ‘Happy moments sweetheart’
Having cut each square out, I simply stitched them back together again to create a banner with a simple seam detail… sew lovely, sew effective!
This same technique was repeated at the top and bottom of the layout with strips of the Forever patterned paper and the title combined both a sticker from the same collection and a rub-on.
A doily simply torn along with a cute love heart brad and the layout was finished…
My second layout ‘This life’ is a personal testimony to my weight loss that I accomplished last year on slimming world. Starting back in January 2014, I reached my goal in June 2014.
Using the same sewing technique to create a seam, I stitched together the three large tags that feature in the middle row of the die-cut paper, sew pretty, yet sew simple!
I did find a couple of plain luggage tags from my own stash to use as a base for embellishing with rub-ons, chipboard elements and frames and the cutest little paper clips from Freckled Fawn
I’m currently very much into using white card stock as a base for my layouts, often backing them with a semi-decorative paper. I adore this grey toned gingham Pages paper from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. In fact it goes without saying that all Crate collations are ‘Sew Lovely’
