Seize the Day
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today sharing my 3 layouts I’ve done using the Carpe Diem collection by Simple Stories.
For my first layout ‘Carpe Diem’ I choose to do the new 9×12 size, this layout is all about my daughters love of snapchat & the crazy photos she sends me. I cut out the word ‘carpe diem’ on my silhouette & then inked the paper it was cut out of & I backed the cut with white cardstock & edged it with a gold pen. I then added more mist & water & let it run down the page & added 4 photos, in chipboard frames, along the centre line, I added a few stickers from the 12×12 fundamentals & expressions stickers, a brad & a heart off the chipboard elements sheet.
My second layout ‘Planner Nerd’ all came about from one small sticker on the expressions sticker sheet!!!! I myself only own 2 planners so needed to text my good friend Kay for a picture of hers, as she has 8!!!, no idea what she does with them all but they do look pretty. I loved all the pencils on the pencil it in paper so started out with that. To add some texture I sewed on a few of them & added the pencils, on foam, off the fundamentals sticker sheet. I added a punched strip of pink dot paper to the right of the pencil paper & added a piece of don’t mind me paper, to the right of that, which I again sewed down. I added some teal coloured paint over the striped paper & added my photo cluster on that. I wanted the word nerd to stand out so stitched that with black thread & added the word ‘planner’ above it. The circle days of the week are cut out from the elements paper & the other bit & pieces around the page are from the bits & pieces pack, bradz, icon stickers & chipboard elements.
My last layout doesn’t have just one title, more like many that are around the page. There are so many bits & pieces in this collection that I wanted to try & get a lot of them on one page & especially that one saying ‘meh’ wouldn’t have a clue where to use it but after some discussion with fellow DT member Nancy it apparently means a lack of enthusiasm, so where better to use it than on a layout about teenagers 🙂 the background paper is the new simple stories sn@p basics walnut/cream dot to which I added splatters & flicks of mists & layered up all the ephemera over the page from top right to bottom left. I anchored the page by added strips of paper to the top & bottom which I sewed down & added many of the fab word label stickers & extra sewing for texture, lastly how cute is that small sausage dog running around my page 🙂
Thanks for joining me today & I hope you’ll check in at the shop & see what a fab collection Simple Stories Carpe Diem is. See you soon xoxo
