Scrappy September
Hello everyone,
How are you all? Good I hope. This month there has been a lot going on over at Hey Little Magpie, with all the new arrivals. I have had a play with all sorts of collections to bring you my layouts – there is some Notes and Things, Shimelle, and Home & Made along with some Burlaps and Bouquets and even a little Moments and Memories And oodles more bits and bobs that I have forgotten right now too….
So lets take a look at what I have made. My first two layouts have a very vintage feel to them. My nanny gave me a big box of old photographs, pictures of when I was small and before that of my mum when she was small. I love these sorts of pictures but I can often struggle to find papers that go well with them that aren’t too fussy or too heavy – do you know what I mean? If you do then the Burlaps and Bouquets line from Fancy Pants could be just what you are looking for. For my first layout I used the papers from the collection pack. I layered them up and distressed the edges of my paper. I fussy cut the flowers from this Carta Bella paper and added those to the bundle behind my picture of my Nanny in her housecoat!! This Carta Bella paper is yummy and goes perfectly with the B&B papers. My embellishments came in the shape of the tags, ephemera and buttons from the B&B line, along with some of the Shimelle stickers, PL cards which I fussy cut from and the cork butterflies from AC DIY range. I made these sparkle using perfect pearls in gold.
For the second layout I used the B&B 6×6 pad to create a mat for my picture. This one is of my mum and I and my great granddad. I distressed the edges of these papers also. I then fussy cut the flowers from this and this 12×12 paper and added them to the body of the layout. I used the Brag cards to create a space for my title and the buttons which I tied with twine from my stash. The globe and the banner are from the Shimelle Dies using the Fancy Pants Gold paper. I love these dies and have been using them loads. They are so versatile. I stamped and stencilled the cardstock background and backed it on cardstock from my stash. The gold sequins came from one of the journaling cards in the Notes and Things collection and the burlap, charms and wood veneers are from my stash.
For this layout I decided to try some mixed media useing the new Shimelle papers. I made a stack of papers to put behind the picture and made lots of flowers using a die from my stash and more of the Shimelle papers. The stickers and the word stickers too became my embellishments and I made a rosette using the Shimelle dies and the Jen Hadfield Dies – all these dies are so wonderful, they can be used in so many ways, if you haven’t bought them yet what are you waiting for? I cut some hearts as well and stuck these to my background, added some water colour paints and mist from my stash and that’s this page done too.
This next layout uses a Maggie Holmes paper as the background, stencilling some modelling paste and adding water colour when that was dry. More Shimelle papers make up my clusters along with Studio Calico Gold doilies and some papers from the Home & Made line by Jen Hadfield for Pebbles. I created some flowers using the Shimelle papers and also used the Shimelle stickers as embellishments along with some lace from my stash that I panted with watercolours.
For my final two pages I decided to scale back a lot and try for a more minimalist look. Page five is made using the Crate Paper Notes and Things line, including the frames, the ephemera pack, the tags pack, the 6×6 and this 12×12 page from My Minds Eye Now and Then. I stacked the papers behind the instax pictures and highlighted the middle shot with a frame. I fussy cut flowers from this Maggie Holmes paper and scattered them around the layout. The large flowers, sequins and mist are all from my stash.
For the very last page this month I used the Notes and Things collection again. I layered the patterned papers behind my photo and added tags and frames and cut a banner for the bottom right hand corner using the Shimelle dies. I also added some Shimelle stickers and fussy cut the butterflies from this Notes and Things paper. I added some of the Notes and Things journaling cards and finished off with enamel dots, flowers and mist from my stash.
I really hope you have enjoyed looking at my layouts! Next month I will be making something spooky for Halloween!
Much Love,
