Say Cheese…Christmas Style with Niki Rowland

Hey Magpies and Happy New Year to everyone! This is Niki with two layouts to share today using the fabulous ‘Say Cheese Christmas’ collection by Simple Stories. There have been a number of ‘Say Cheese’ collections, all are loosly Disney themed and this one is Disney and Christmas combined – absolutely perfect if you go to Disney at Christmas time like I did!

I had the 12×12 papers, Combo Stickers, Bits & Pieces Die Cuts and the Chipboard Stickers.

For my first layout I’ve used a cut file by Paige Evans. A few months ago Paige gave away four Disney themed cut files for free. I’ve used this one ‘LOVE’ for my first layout. I cut it from white cardstock and then back filled the letters with patterned papers from the Say Cheese Christmas collection. I also used the ‘print & cut’ function on my Silhouette machine to print and cut my photo to size too. I cut it so it fitted inside the ‘o’ which was Mickey shaped of course.

I used a white cardstock background which I trimmed down and mounted onto a piece of the Say Cheese Christmas patterned paper. I love the black outline, it makes the layout really pop. I also added a large piece of tissue paper behind the cut file.  Once my background was all sorted, I then added lots of embellishments. I added a cluster around the ear, and another on the ‘L’. I also added a few stickers and a title on the ‘E’. I used gold Thickers from my stash to add my title which I stuck onto white card first then trimmed around. I did this so it would read more clearly against the busy patterns on my layout.

I finished off with splatters of red paint and some sequins.

For my second layout I have used another Paige Evans cut file, one of the Disney themed ones she released. I cut it from one of the Say Cheese Christmas patterned papers. I used the black paper with spots on. The cut file cut beautifully. I cut it again but the outline only, from white card to back it with.I then added the fabulous sheet of red and white polka dot paper to my white cardstock background. I offset it at an angle to give it a bit more interest. I then added the Minnie cut file to the background, over on the left side. The white backed cut file gave me the white space I needed on the layout.

I painted the flowers on the cut file. I used red paint for the flowers and green paint for the leaves. I just felt it needed a little colour on that area and instead of backfilling I opted for paint on this occasion. I also added lots of flowers and embellishments to that cluster of flowers, to make it a dimensional floral cluster.

I finished off the layout by adding Bits & Pieces Die Cuts, chipboard and stickers. I also added a title using the same gold Thickers from my stash.  I also added splatters and sequins and I machine stitched in black around the red patterned paper to make it pop off the page.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping xxx
