San Fransico Travel Layout – Echo Park Papers – It’s Time to Travel – Wendy Meffan

Travel scrapbooking is one of my favourite ways to relive special family adventures, and this layout documenting our trip to San Francisco came together beautifully using the Echo Park It’s Time to Travel collection.

To create a striking focal point, I started by cutting a large geo tag from one of the collection’s patterned papers. The bold shape immediately draws the eye and provides the perfect foundation for the rest of the design. To add a sense of place and reinforce the travel theme, I backed the centre of the tag with one of the street map patterned papers. The map detail adds both texture and interest while celebrating the iconic city we were exploring. I then mounted the completed tag onto another coordinating patterned paper, helping it stand out even more against the background.

For the photos, I selected four smaller images featuring my daughter enjoying a ride on one of San Francisco’s famous trams. Rather than arranging them in a straight line, I created two separate photo clusters, which helps guide the viewer’s eye across the page while telling the story of the day. The clusters also balance the large central tag and create a pleasing visual flow.

To embellish the layout, I reached into my stash and added some older Hey Little Magpie woodie words. These wooden embellishments add warmth, dimension, and a personal touch while complementing the travel-themed papers perfectly. i also used stickers from the sticker book, sticker sheet and frames and tags embellishments.

I also added a title in  Doodlebug alphabet stickers around the curve of the Geo Tag.

As a finishing touch, I cropped the completed layout slightly and mounted it onto white cardstock, leaving a narrow white border around the edge. This simple technique helps frame the design and really makes the colours and patterns pop. It’s amazing how such a small detail can elevate a layout and give it a polished, finished look.

This page is a wonderful reminder of a memorable San Francisco adventure and the joy of documenting travel memories through scrapbooking.

Until next time … Happy Scrapping!
