Round Trip Part 2 – Maggie Holmes | Amy Kattenbelt

Hello Magpies, Amy here today sharing with you a layout that I have created using Maggie Holmes Round Trip collection. This layout is a little different for me, I have tried to really concentrate on getting a clean eye catching design and allowing each elements to stand out. Also the colours I have picked from the collection was very different to those I would usually be drawn to. Sometimes its good to try things outside your comfort zone, don’t you agree?

Leicester Together

Because this is a clean and simple layout I think if you are new to scrapbooking this might be a great layout to scrap lift. You don’t need many supplies to achieve this eye catching page. I picked the apricot orange, soft pink and the true blues from the collection and completely avoided using anything that has the mint greens, turquoise of yellows of the collection.

The layout’s main feature is this chevron of patterned paper that literally points to my 6×4 photo. To achieve this I used the diagonally striped pattern of the paper called ‘Departure‘. I cut a strip 2″ along the top of the layout, then turned the paper 90 degrees and cut a 2″ strip from the side. Cut these pieces down to 4″ in length and these two 2″ by 4″ paper pieces will give you the chevron design.

I layered my photo onto white card, then onto three patterned papers, an orange, a pink and a blue floral paper. I kept the edges clean to make the layout simple but you could easily add more texture by distressing or inking them and layering little pieces in between.

My title was created using the pink and blue letters from the foam alphabet thicker set. I then added the ‘together’ sticker to finish my title.

I added a strip of dark blue paper to the bottom of my layout and then added some embellishments to the lower left corner. The chipboard piece with the same diagonal stripes as my paper was perfect for this layout. I then had fun adding just a few of my favourite chipboard and stickers around the layout to finish it off.

Thanks for coming to take a look at this layout. I would love to know what your normal scrapbook style is. Why not head over to the Hey Little Magpie Facebook group and share with us!
