Romance is in the air – Simple Stories pages

It’s the season of love and romance, and the most recent collection in the shop from Simple Stories celebrates that with a soft and delicate colour palette of pink, green and blue, and a dash of black in the mix for contrast. I’ve been creating pages with this collection this month, and you can find it in the shop here:
Simple Stories Romance
My first page is about a kind of love that is less obvious than a wedding or anniversary, and that is the love of a child for their soft toy! My daughter chose to spend her Christmas pennies on this cat toy last year, and I was reluctant to let her because of the sheer volume of soft toys in our house. However, it was all she wanted, and so home he came with us. I needn’t have worried, she adores him so much.

I used pieces from the sticker sheet, die cut pack and chipboard pieces to embellish my lay It, and also added these beautiful cork & gold hearts from Freckled Fawn which you will see on my layouts this month. They also do a star shaped version, which is equally as delightful and usable.

My second page this month features a very informal family photo taken on my birthday. I love this photo for it’s real life depiction of us in a candid and predominantly unposed way. I created a grid style layout to showcase the shot, and used several pieces from the cut apart papers here, adding embellishments mostly over the joining lines. Balloons were a nice subtle addition to hint that it was a birthday, and so many of the phrases were applicable to family love – “no place I’d rather be”, “so happy together”, “together is a beautiful place to be”.

Thirdly I chose this photo of me painting my little girl’s toenails mostly because I liked the colours in it and they felt like a good match to the supplies. A simple activity, but a lovely bit of mummy-daughter bonding time that we both enjoyed and has since become a special thing for us to have matching piggies! On this particular day I was painting them with gold glitter varnish, so I had to add some Heidi Swapp gold lame mist to the page for that reason! Without doubt this is my favourite mist ever. If you haven’t got it them I urge you to try it out. You won’t be disappointed.
