Project Life Supplies for non Project Lifers !

I’m not into Project Life but I love the 6×6 pads as they’re so versatile and you don’t get the heebey jeebies cutting into a smaller piece of paper especially when there are 2 of every design in case you make a blunder. Don’t let the fact that a product may have a Project Life label put you off using it for scrapbooking too. They’re the perfect size for incorporating into 12×12 layouts as are the pre-cut cards.
I swoon when I see all the girly colours in the shop but with two boys I’m not always able to use them in my layouts but I try never to shy away from using a bit of pink now and then when I can get away with it . The pink in the Becky Higgins Project Life – Everyday Edition  range is a lovely salmon colour and teamed with red it can look quite masculine especially when accented with black. My sons are used to me sneaking in a bit of pink in here and there anyway !

The title is cut from Pink Paislee’s Memorandum Collection – Journal Paper. For letters they didn’t have on the sheet , I simply cut some blank squares and drew on the letters I needed.

There’s a scattering of Bella Boulevard’s Enamel doo dads in the star and arrow shapes – these are my favourite go-to enamel embellishment – and they come in several colours too. Just spotted one of the cat’s hairs poking out on the left hand side – they like to ‘help’ when I’m photographing the layouts !

The Specialty Card Pack – Gold Foil Treatment (12 Pieces) contains a great selection of cards and frames – always useful to highlight a particular photo.

Another Project Life collection that caught my eye was Becky Higgins’ Sweet Edition – again another great Patterned Paper Pad – 6 x 6 which has some lovely watercolour effect patterns and some outsized blooms begging to be cut out.

I’d just read an article about clearing all the horrid clothes that you may have lurking in your wardrobe so I chucked out everything that didn’t make me happy and ended up with … very few clothes left ! But guess what – a general smattering of pink . I’ve called this layout Wardrobe Review and used a combination of  Maggie Holmes gold letters from her Confetti range and a gold foil  sticker phrase from Studio Calico’s Seven Paper range – Amelia.

I made a backing paper using watercolour card and a misting of Heidi Swapp’s Shine in Gold Lame to mimic the colours in the papers and layered a sheet of vellum on top on which I’d printed a geometric design then put through the Minc and foiled in gold. I’m getting so much use of that machine – one of my all time favourite gadgets. The possibilities are endless . The chipboard heart is from the Everyday Edition – Chipboard Stickers pack – Gold Foil Treatment and the acetate black striped heart is from We R Memory Keepers – Clearly Posh – Acetate Ephemera Die-Cuts – 45 in a pack in gold and black. They are another really useful embellishment pack to have to hand.

I love the bold black chalky outlines on the flowers – they look great set against black card stock.

Lastly – yet more of the pink and gold combo using a simple watercolour washed background over some texture paste applied through a stencil . My favourite new medium is a gloss gel which gives a nice raised but smooth texture with a shine which perfectly complements the puffy stickers that are everywhere right now.  I’ve used a gold puffy sticker from Pink Paislee’s Memorandum Collection plus another of the frames from the Becky Higgins Project Life Everyday Edition  Specialty Card Pack – Gold Foil Treatment . This one had a heart shaped cut-out which I backed with acetate and made a sequin filled shaker card. Pink Paislee’s  – Memorandum – Washi Tape Booklet is used on the strips top and bottom. To be honest it doesn’t look like much online but the booklet has 3 pages which you don’t get to see from the photo and they’re all lovely.  A smattering of yet more of Heidi Swapp’s Shine in Gold Lame completes the look. I’m tempted to buy some of the sets of mini bottles in other colours. This has to be my favourite splatter brand !

Oh … and here’s Jenny posing on the white card I use to set my layouts against when photographing – I thin she may be ready for her close-up !
